Rocktober Special Selections

To help you and provide extra value to your membership we are pleased to announce that we will continue these selections until the end of December!

Our “Rocktober” selections (to give them a name) - will appear separately on this page and hopefully will provide additional profits.

These selections are derived from some intel I’ve gathered from speaking to a few industry people and hopefully these selection will not only ‘beat the handicapper’ but also provide some good returns. We always bet them to PROFIT 5 units like our regular selections and they only qualify officially if the SP is less than $8.50, unless we note otherwise in the comments.

We are performing an additional analysis on these selections which is finding a subset of them that are potentially worthy of an additional bet. Early days, but I’ll designate these with *** (around midday) so you can follow the progress of these “special” Rocktobers.

NB: From Tue 4th Dec - following an analysis of the Rocktober results, we are going to place a maximum bet of 1.5 units on any one selection. We think that some of the shorter selections are slightly over-bet and we know that level stakes is showing a good profit, so this is a good compromise, we think.

Daily Summary

SSSS: No Selections Today.
Month of December finished based on Official Prices - Outlay 79.49 Units, Return 72.39 Units, Loss of 7.10 Units. For Best Tote, return / loss was 57.89 Units / 21.60 Units and Betfair 58.49 Units / 21.00 Units.

Rocktober: Outlay 6.02 Units. Return 6.25 Units. Profit of 0.23 Units. For Best Tote return / loss was 5.00 Units / 1.02 Units and Betfair 5.13 Units / 0.89 Units.
Month of December finished based on Official Prices - Outlay 109.32 Units, Return 75.92 Units, Loss of 33.40 Units. For Best Tote, return / loss was 79.58 Units / 29.74 Units and Betfair 91.87 Units / 17.45 Units.

Well a win, is a win, even if it is a small win. Hopefully you took the fixed price for Yulong August as it did shorten late, so if you took Best Tote or Betfair you would have experienced a loss for today.
Unfortunately for the month of Decmeber, both SSSS and Rocktober selections finished in the red as outlined above.

We will be going to entirely SLACK on JAN 2 2019 .... it is much more efficient and offers so much more. Please attend to this, if you haven't.

ROCKTOBER Selections:

Echuca Race 3 No.4 Freestyler @ $7.50 (0.77 UNIT WIN)

Result: 3rd at SP $6.00. Coming from midfield, did encounter a little traffic in the home straight and ran home well for third but was absolutely no match for the winner, Star Of Man ($19.00 SP) who won by over five lenghts. Outcome -0.77 Units.

Warrnambool Race 1 No.3 Magnus Royale @ $6 (1 UNIT WIN)

Result: 2nd at SP $4.80. Leaders, which included the winner Valenica Missile ($5.50 SP), pinched a couple length lead on the turn which Magnus Royale couldn’t fully make up despite finishing very strongly. Outcome -1.00 Unit.

Warrnambool Race 2 No.7 Wild Moon @ $3 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $5.00. Coming from the back in the tightly compacted field, made early ground before tiring in the final 100m to finish out of the placings. Outcome -1.50 Units.

🏆🏆🏆Warrnambool Race 3 No.8 Yulong August @ $5 (1.25 UNITS WIN)

Result: 1st at SP $3.80, Best Tote $4.00, Betfair $4.10. Following the leader, Tulpar majority of the trip. Tulpar got a break of about two lengths at the top of the straight which Yulong August was able to just run down very nicely to win in a close photo finish. Outcome +6.25 Units

Warrnambool Race 4 No.2 San Remo @ $1.85 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: 4th at SP $1.80. After leading for the majority of the trip, tired in the final stages to finish approximately seven lengths from the winner. Disappointing for a short price favorite. Outcome -1.50 Units.

Warrnambool Race 7 No.8 Euroman @ $15 - price unlikely

Result: Non Qualifier - Unplaced at SP $17.00

Sun 30th December

We usually have a day-off on Sunday, but as it is Christmas holidays and the Cricket Test is rain delayed, here’s a few we like.

Daily Summary

Well that was a wipeout today and not in a good way - both our selections and the Australian cricket team.

COROWA R4 #5 Oh What A Thief @ $8 (0.72 UNITS WIN). Short back up after a lung training 1200m. Back to his fav 1000m here today although a stronger class he should give them something to catch.

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.20. Rated $5.93. Settled in fifth on the rails in the seven horse field though was close to the leaders. Despite the fast pace, Oh What A Thief was unable to make up any ground in the straight and only labored home. Outcome -0.72 Units.

SEYMOUR R3 #3 Croatian @ $4.20 (1.57 UNITS WIN). Impressive run first up and ran through the line well. John Allen and Weir combine here and we think it is a sound chance.

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.10. Rated $8.00. Settled in sixth around one off the rails. Ridden along prior to the turn but just battled home never a winning chance. Outcome -1.57 Units.

SEYMOUR R5 #5 Blue Bear @ $2.30 (2.5 UNITS WIN). Shorter than many we tip but ticks all the boxes here today and a price boost should get you $2.50 which is above our rated price.

Result: 4th at SP $3.00. Rated $2.40. Settled in third just behind the leader. Lost it chance when shuffled back to near last on the turn despite hitting he line well. Outcome -2.50 Units.

SEYMOUR R6 #5 Cape Richards @ $4.40 (1.48 UNITS WIN). Really took our eye with our comment “Above average ability won mdn, then next start well Aug 16” - and we think it is worth a go here with the market support.

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.80. Rated $5.96. Settled in last. Was one of the widest on the turn and ran home okay, was just too far back to be a real winning hope. Outcome -1.48 Units.

ROCKTOBER Selections:

SEYMOUR Race 1 No. 2 Clap Chap @ $5.00 (1.25 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $6.50. Coming from the back straightened well but didn’t make a real threat on the leaders as was never a real winning chance. Outcome -1.25 Units.

SEYMOUR Race 1 No. 7 Romaiya @ $9.50 (0.59 UNITS WIN). Although slightly outside our usual price range, we think this is worth a shot with a whisper around.

Result: Unplaced at SP $12.00. Ran on nicely from the back to finish midfield but was still about five lengths from the winner. Outcome -0.59 Units.

SEYMOUR Race 2 No. 9 Lamington Drive @ $17 - price unlikely

Result: Non Qualifier - 3rd at SP $26.00

SEYMOUR Race 3 No. 3 Croatian @ $4.20 (1.57 UNITS WIN) - also a SSSS tip.

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.10. Settled in sixth around one off the rails. Ridden along prior to the turn but just battled home never a winning chance. Outcome -1.57 Units.

SEYMOUR Race 8 No. 12 Keysor @ $6 - (1 UNIT WIN)

Result: 4th at SP $8.00. Got a nice trail into the race in about fourth and found an opening at the top of the straight, though couldn’t run on sufficiently to be a real winning threat. Outcome -1.00 Unit

Only the winner today provided by the SSSS selections, which meant the SSSS finished in profit for the day and Rocktober ended up in a loss for the day.
Unfortunately a losing week on SSSS selections means we are experiencing a small loss for December. For Rocktober, the week and month to date is in the red.

DOOMBEN R1 #6 Mishani Wrangler @ $7.50  (0.77 UNITS WIN). On a quick turnaround to strike while the iron is hot. Rated well at this price for the win.

Result: 4th at SP $12.00. Rated $5.90. Drifter till jump time. Settled around midfield, one off the rails. A number of lengths from the winner at the post but did run decently to the line as one of the widest runners. Outcome -0.77 Units.

⛪MORPHETTVILLE R2 #5 Costa Lante @ $15.00 (0.36 UNITS WIN). Coming off a strong win over 2000m in the Bordertown Cup and will appreciate the weight advantage here against older runners. Trainer Sue Jaensch has a good record bringing horses to Adelaide and this mare is in form. Can sit off pace in this small field and run home best for the win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $21.00. Rated $19.30. In the small field of six, from the wide barrier Costa Lane went forward and settled third, one off the rails, a couple of lengths from the sole leader. Was three wide on the turn and by the top of the straight, Costa Lante had enough and finished a long last. Outcome -0.36 Units.

RANDWICK R5 #12 Nai’a @ $7.50  (0.77 UNITS WIN). Very useful Godolphin mare who went to wide last run and they got away on her. Bar2 & 1800m today could see her back to the winning post again.

Result: Scratched at the gates

MOONEE VALLEY R6 #3 Beauty Way @ $6.00  (1 UNIT WIN). Had a spell and changed stable to come back for a good win last start. Looks like Begg has him going very well and expected to run well again here today.

Result: 4th at SP $4.80. Rated $8.36. Settled midfield, one of the rails. Hit a flat spot around the turn and in the final 200m really motored home but its chances were killed around the turn. Outcome -1.00 Unit.

GOLD COAST R4 #10 Okochi Archer @ $8.00  (0.72 UNITS WIN). Scr yesterday for this. Won this distance last start and can do it again for mine.

Result: 2nd at SP $15.00. Rated $7.37. Settled in second behind the leader and eventual winner in Clint (SP $7.50). Clint got a break at the top of the straight which Okochi Archer, tried as it might, just couldn’t make up. Outcome -0.72 Units.

STONEY CREEK R7 #1 Many Rewards @ $8.00  (0.72 UNITS WIN). First up for a new trainer here today and jumps from the 1 and back in distance. Tongue Tie for the first time.

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.20. Rated $11.15.Leaped in the air when the barriers opened, missing the start by many lengths and finished a long last. Outcome -0.72 Units.

🏆🏆🏆RANDWICK R7 #3 Tip Top @ $5.00  (1.25 UNITS WIN). Has been very consistent after resuming and won well for us last week after running home very strong.

Result: 1st at SP $3.60, Best Tote $3.60, Betfair $3.77. Rated $5.70. Settled 2nd last on the rails – about 10 lengths from the leader. Came into the race nicely on the back of Berdebik. Then raced all the up the straight against Berdebik which ended in a close photo finish which favoured us by a nose. Outcome +6.06 Units (after deductions)

RANDWICK R9 #5 Pumpkin Pie @ $9.00  (0.63 UNITS WIN). Two recent BT wins and beat a couple of nice style horses. I have been waiting for this one.

Result: Unplaced at SP $7.50. Rated $18.44. Sat just off the speed, one off the rails. In the straight was one pace not making up ground in a race dominated by those on speed. Outcome – 0.63 Units.

ROCKTOBER Selections:

Morphettville Race 1 No.1 Ocean King @ $4.80 (1.32 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.00. Settled behind the leader but quickly after it was asked for an effort, horse had enough and finished 4th a number of lengths from the winners. Outcome -1.32 Units.

Doomben Race 4 No.9 Snitzkraft @ $14 - watch price

Result: Non Qualifier – Unplaced at SP $21.00

Doomben Race 4 No.14 Oberland @ $16 - price unlikely

Result: Non Qualifier – Unplaced at SP $20.00

Moonee Valley Race 7 No.6 The Gatting Ball @ $8.50 - watch price, Oliver rides - may come in, rated at $5.50.

Result: 2nd at SP $5.00. From midfield, just before the turn, horse stoked up and found a run on the rails; hit the the lead at the top of the straight though couldn’t hold off the challenge of the fast finishing Khartoum in the final 100m or so. Outcome -0.83 Units

GOSFORD R2 #5 Vega @ $7.50  (0.77 UNITS WIN). Does have the form on his day and it is xmas so turn on the turbos and fly home son.

Result: Unplaced at SP $11.00. Rated $4.51. Nice overlay Settled last on the rails. Stoked up prior to the turn while sticking to the rails. While it made initial ground on the leaders it remained in last position through to the finish. Outcome -0.77 Units

GOSFORD R5 #8 Tell Me @ $4.60  (1.39 UNITS WIN). Very Impressive filly this one and just wins for mine.

Result: 3rd at SP $4.40. Rated $2.98. Nice overlay. Settled in second, outside the leader off a fast tempo. Got to a narrow lead at the top of the straight though the favourite, Military Zone, bided its time and quickly gathered in Tell Me who managed to hold onto 3rd. Outcome -1.39 Units.

BAIRNSDALE R6 #3 The Welder @ $10.00  (0.56 UNITS WIN). Something sparked this bloke on the bend when he threw his head back went to the leed and said catch me if you can to win his last start mdn.  Plenty of improvement in him to win this at a good price here today.

Result: 4th at SP $7.50. Rated $5.47. Nice overlay. Settled a length or two behind the leaders in fifth, one off the rails. Initially ran strongly at the top of the straight but couldn’t maintain that strong speed though did hit the line respectfully to finish fourth though a number of lengths behind the winner. Outcome -0.56 Units.

GAWLER R5 #3 Marman @ $12.00  (0.46 UNITS WIN). Has won twice 4th up before and against better than in this race today. Looking forward to a good run at overs for the win.

Result: 3rd at SP $8.50. Rated $6.49. Nice overlay. Settled in around sixth one off the fence in the second half of the field. Was off and chasing before the turn but was unable to make up sufficient ground to the winners who held a front running position throughout though did well to grab third. Outcome -0.46 Units.

CRANBOURNE R8 #3 Burgonet @ $14.00  (0.39 UNITS WIN). Now here is a nice gelding by Helmet who has one FU & distance. Scr last two acceptances so ready for this IMO at an overs win price.

Result: Unplaced at SP $7.00. Rated $9.03. Sat behind the leaders in the run which included the eventual winner, Delvecchio at SP $1.55, though when Burgonet was asked for an effort at the top of the straight it had nothing to give and ended up finishing at the tail of the field. Outcome – 0.39 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $13.00. Rated $19.93. Settled midfield one off the rails. Was off the bit before the turn running four wide though was struggling at the turn and failed to run on in the straight and finished towards the tail of the field. Outcome –0.50 Units.

With selections back on today, it was good to see Rocktober return to being in the black or profitable ways. Unfortunately SSSS selections could only manage minor placings at best.

CAULFIELD R1 #1 Amortentia @ $12.00 (0.46 UNITS WIN). She flies the lids and jumps in front and if she does it again here she may collect at good odds.

Result: 3rd at SP $10.00. Rated $8.64. Settled in fifth. Caught for room in the straight and got clear with about 200m to go to hit the line well to finish 3rd. Outcome -0.46 Units.

CAULFIELD R4 #6 Indian Thunder @ $9.50 (0.59 UNITS WIN). I liked the way he came home for 2nd after slow away last start. Willing to have a go at these odds today for a win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $10.00. Rated $11.87. Settled on the rails towards the tail of the ield. Trying to take the rails run home, was trapped for a run at top off the straight and squeezed for room with 200m to go. Outcome -0.59 Units.

MORPHETTVILLE R4 #3 Ascendance @ $4.60 (1.39 UNITS WIN). Can win this with the draw and a good jump. Stubby in the saddle gives me more confidence.

Result: 4th at SP $5.00. Rated $2.89. In the small field of five, settled in the lead on the rails. Though in the straight, those that sat behind Ascendance took over pretty quickly while Ascendance plodded to the line to finish fourth, a number of lengths from the placings. Outcome -1.39 Units.

📫QQ play. Our SA Analyst also likes: ⛪Morphettville R4 #5 Easy Beast $3.60. Fitter for two good Moonee Valley runs over 1200m and back to 1050m here from Br1 finds a winnable race to add to his good record. Is 1from 1 t/d and has in form German Jockey M Seidl aboard.so plenty in his favour. So as we already have a selection here we’ll suggest the Quinella as well for a 0.5 UNIT PLAY.

Result: 3rd at SP $3.00. Rated $5.83. Easy Best one the widest runners in the straight, though was too far back and never a winning hope. Outcome -0.50 Units.

RANDWICK R6 #3 Nicochet @ $13.00 (0.42 UNITS WIN). Gets the blinkers on today which may be the key for the win IMO.

Result: Unplaced at SP $7.50. Rated $14.10. Settled midfield on the rails. On the point of the turn, angled out looking for a run which it found at the top of the straight and hit the line okay without ever being a real winning threat. Outcome -0.42 Units

MORPHETTVILLE R6 #4 Autmed @ $12.00 (0.46 UNITS WIN). Won this class & distance TU last prep. Ready to shine at a good price here for the win IMO.

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.00. Rated $10.82. Settled in last part of the field on the rails. Took rails ran in the straight and while it found clean air, it was unable to run on and challenge the leaders / winners and eventually finished at the tail of the field. Outcome -0.46 Units.

RANDWICK R7 #1 Life Less Ordinary @ $6.50 (0.91 UNITS WIN). Hoping class prevails here and if it does we should have a winner at a nice price here.

Result: 3rd at SP $7.00. Rated $5.87. Settled midfield on the rails. Got off the rails, prior to the turn and raced next to the winner, Fierce Impact, who gave a kick at the 200m mark which Life Less Ordinary couldn’t match and did look like peaked at its run with still 100m to go. Outcome -0.91 Units

ROCKTOBER Selections:

Geelong Race 1 No.5 Titan I Am @ $3.90 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.80. Three wide for some for about half of the trip in about third. Weakened in the last 200m to finish midfield. Outcome -1.50 Units.

Caulfield Race 1 No.6 Sworn Evidence @ $7 (0.84 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $7.00. Sat three wide with cover during the run. In the straight ran without necessary dash and finished midfield. Outcome -0.84 Units.

Caulfield Race 1 No.7 No Reward @ $15 - price unlikely

Result: Non Qualifier – 4th at SP $17.00

Geelong Race 2 No.7 Veloucher @ $4.20 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.20. After sitting behind the leaders in the run, went three / four wide in the run, though from the point of the turn was immediately placed under pressure and dropped through the field. Outcome -1.50 Units

Geelong Race 2 No.11 Maunahost @ $4.80 (1.32 UNITS WIN)

Result: 3rd at SP $4.00. Joined into the race nicely from the turn though couldn’t maintain its pace in the final 200m or so. Outcome -1.32 Units

🏆🏆🏆Geelong Race 4 No.7 Mosh Music @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN)

Result: 1st at SP $7.50, Best Tote $8.10, Betfair $8.93. Coming from the tail of the field, joined in the race nicely and really exploded away in the final 250m or so to win easily along way out from home. Outcome +6.16 Units

Caulfield Race 4 No.6 Indian Thunder @ $9 - watch price

Result: Non Qualifier - Unplaced at SP $10.00

Geelong Race 5 No.13 Zuers @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.60. Coming from midfield on the rails, trapped for room in the straight and even when found clean air, never ran on. Outcome -1.12 Units.

Caulfield Race 5 No.8 Chippenham @ $4.60 (1.39 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.60. Three wide from just prior to the turn. Just plain in the straight, not really doing much. Outcome -1.39 Units.

Caulfield Race 6 No.3 Bondeiger @ $8.50 - watch price

Result: Scratched

🏆🏆🏆Geelong Race 7 No.12 Pelonomena @ $5 (1.25 UNIT WIN)

Result: 1st at SP $6.50, Best Tote $6.70, Betfair $9.66. Coming from the back, joined into race as it was one of the widest runners. Really drove home the especially the last 100m to nab victory. Outcome +6.25 Units

🏆Caulfield Race 7 No.3 Native Soldier @ $2.30 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: 1st at SP $2.35, Best Tote $2.50, Betfair $2.51. Early battle for the lead but decided to sit outside. Top of the straight had a kick and got a 2 length lead which was able to be maintained as it saluted. Too much class for this lot. Outcome +3.45 Units

Caulfield Race 7 No.5 Platinum Angel @ $7 (0.84 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $6.00. Coming from the tail of the field and ran home nicely though was always too far back to be a winning threat. Outcome -0.84 Units

Caulfield Race 8 No.6 Casino Fourteen @ $3.70 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.30. Coming from outside the leader, took over on the turn but dropped back through the field in the last 100m or so. Outcome -1.50 Units.

Mon 24th December

Christmas Eve, and a Monday so no SSSS selections but a few Rocktobers - let’s hope they come back and fire for a Stocking Filler.

Well that brings an end to a successful week, especially our SSSS selections. For Saturday, SSSS continued its good returns thanks to barn storming win of Usain Bowler though unfortunately Rocktober couldn’t follow suite with a couple of minor placings only.

NEWCASTLE R2 #3 The Drake @ $6.00  (1 UNIT WIN). He is better than last prep shows and just won a recent BT by 3l so im hoping he is back to his best and gives us a win here today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.90. Rated $9.96. Settled on the rails as joint leader. Into the straight, The Drake had enough and dropped through the field to finish towards the tail. Outcome -1.00 Unit.

COLAC R4 #3 Freedom’s Light @ $11.00  (0.50 UNITS WIN). Had a narrow win three funs back and has now changed to the Weir stable. Has the blinkers back on so could knock this off at a good price.

Result: 4th at SP $11.00. Rated $10.65. After being three wide early, went forward and eventually settled in fourth, one off the rails. While finished off respectively for fourth and hitting the line nicely, never really looked a winning chance. Outcome -0.50 Units.

EAGLE FARM R5 #2 Malvern Estate @ $11.00  (0.50 UNITS WIN). I’m siding with this bloke today as has a good fU record. Hoping he crosses and sits on the pace and 1st to the post.

Result: Unplaced at SP $12.00. Rated $14.52. Gained early ground to sit behind the leaders in the run. Gap opened at the top o the straight but wasn’t good enough to take it and finished midfield. Outcome -0.50 Units.

FLEMINGTON R6 #5 Demolition @ $4.20  (1.57 UNITS WIN). Racing in great form and should hit the turbos and jet home late.

Result: 2nd at SP $4.20. Rated $6.06. Settled midfield in the straight race. End up being one of the widest runners and finished off strongly to nab second on the line about a length behind the winner. Outcome -1.57 Units.

GOLD COAST R7 #7 Okochi Archer @ $12.00  (0.46 UNITS WIN). Won well last start and i reckon he has another in him att a good price.

MORPHETTVILLE R7 #9 Benz @ $14.00  (0.39 UNITS WIN). He goes well in an open race like this and jumps from the 1B. A very nice rated price for a win here today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $16.00. Rated $11.52. Settled fourth on the rails behind the leaders. In the straights, kept to the rails and ran in behinds though never looked like a winning hope even if it got into the clear. Outcome -0.39 Units.

🏆🏆🏆FLEMINGTON R9 #17 Usain Bowler @ $7.00  (0.84 UNITS WIN). Came home like lightning last start for 3rd. 2nd up here and has 2 from 4 at this distance.

Result: 1st at SP $6.50, Best Tote $6.70, Betfair $6.60. Rated $8.11. Settled towards the back in the straight six race. Was one of the widest runners and came home with a booming run in the last 200m, hitting the lead with 100m to win impressively. Outcome +5.88 Units.

Well after two straight days of very good profit (over 25 Units over the two days), unfortunately we couldn’t make it a third. The best result we had today was two close seconds, one in a photo where unfortunately the camera angle was deceiving as I thought originally we had nailed a winner.

IPSWICH R4 #3 Winds Of Change @ $8.00  (0.72 UNITS WIN). Had two slow jumps the last two and a win and a third from last three. About time to turn the tables for another win i reckon. Now $3.70 (AM Scratchings).

Result: 2nd at SP $2.15. Rated $3.70. A number of scratching reduced the field to four. Settled in the lead off a steady tempo on the rails. Tried to race clear at the top of the straight but the winner, Sugar Sizzle, just wouldn’t go away and battled us all the way to line and able to get its head in front where it counted. Outcome -0.72 Units.

DUBBO R3 #1 Axis @ $7.00  (0.84 UNITS WIN). Is better that last run shows on paper and the 1 barrier and a touch of luck he just may salute here today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $11.00. Rated $14.26. Settled in about fourth, on the rails, a couple of lengths from the leading pack. Kept to the inside in the straight, whacked away to the line while never really looked like a winning hope eventually finishing midfield. Outcome -0.84 Units

DUBBO R4 #1 Kenny Succeed @ $5.50  (1.12 UNITS WIN). Had a little problem then a spell and if he comes back with his best form before the spell he should be too good IMO.

Result: 2nd at SP $9.00. Rated $3.98. Nice overlay though also a steady drifter from its advertised price. Showed early speed to have a share of the lead on the rails with the eventual winner Jet Girl on our outside. It was a battle between the two all the way up the straight with Jet Gril getting the better of us in the final 50m. Outcome -1.12 Units.

MOONEE VALLEY R8 #8 Shir @ $10.00  (0.56 UNITS WIN). Copped a bump at the start and the race not run to suit and has won SU. A nice price for a win with a bit of luck.

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.00. Rated $10.79. Settled midfield, a number of lengths from the lead. Was hard ridden prior to the turn not making ground and finished at the tail of the field. Outcome -0.56 Units.

Result: 4th at SP $4.20. Rated $9.50. Settled in fourth, three wide. Was four wide the turn and while never looking like a winner during the run, considering the tough run, it hit the line respectably. Outcome -0.59 Units.

🏆🏆🏆SEYMOUR R7 #7 Wallace Street @ $6.00 (1 UNIT WIN). Comes back to a suitable distance after a lung busting run last start which i like to see happen. Nice overs bet for a win today. Now: $4.60

Result: 1st at SP $4.20, Best Tote $4.40, Betfair $4.42. Rated $4.60. Settled in second behind the leader on the rails. Got off the rails coming into the straight and used all of the straight to take the lead and salute in a narrow photo. Thanks to deductions, advertised price came down to $4.86, Outcome +4.86 Units.

🏆SEYMOUR R8 #5 Mr Tipla @ $5.00 (0.84 UNITS WIN). Comes from NZ with good form but a dry track in question but watching his replays and a nice overs price im will to find out. He does look gutsy IMO. Now: $4.20

Result: 1st at SP $3.50, Best Tote $4.10, Betfair $3.80. Settled in fourth, on the outside. Three wide on the turn and came home the best to salute relatively comfortably by about a length. After deductions, Outcome +3.36 Units.

🏆🏆🏆GOULBURN R7 #12 Picaro @ $9.00 (0.63 UNITS WIN) He has a nice style about him IMO and also the they way he put it together the last two runs. He flew home along the fence last start and looks really ready to peak and at this nicely rated price i’m on for the win here today.

Result: 1st at SP $3.70, Best Tote $4.10, Betfair $4.30. Rated $10.00. Settled in the last part of the field on the rails. From 800m out, jockey slowly stoked the horse up and really let rip with about 200m to go and was too strong on the line. After deductions, Outcome +5.56 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $1.90. After settling midfield, was under pressure on the turn and even though gained a couple of placing did not run on as expected especially considering its run in transit. Outcome -1.965 Units (based on advice below).

🏆Seymour Race 3 No.7 Six Sigma @ $3.80 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: 1st at SP $3.10, Best Tote $3.40, Betfair $3.50. Nice trail into the race and was wide on the turn as it unleashed its run to win by about 1/4 of a length. Outcome +3.93 Units (based on advice below)

NB: The prices of these two selections make the flat staking here (with outlay limits) problematic. I suggest a better approach is to bet them like RewardBet suggests - Rocky Road (1.965 UNITS) and Six Sigma (1.035 UNITS) to return 3.933 UNITS if either one wins (for an outlay of 3 units)

Seymour Race 4 No.10 Veloucher @ $9 - watch price [price used was $7, after support from $9]

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.60. Heavily supported in the market prior to jump. Unfortunately did not live up to this support despite following the winner but dropped off with about 200m to go to finish towards the tail. Outcome -0.83 Units.

Result: 2nd at SP $5.00. Rated $9.00. From the inside barrier, got a good start, held the rails and lead by approximately half a length. Got a mini break at the top of the straight on the short priced favourite, Cherief’s Choice, who took every inch of the straight to just run it down by a nose. Fitness may have played a part too with Bicondova being first up for about a year. Nice return. Outcome -0.56 Units.

WYONG R5 #5 Nines Enough @ $6.50 (0.91 UNITS WIN). O’Hara & Englebrecht a good team and should just about have this girl ready to bounce in a weaker class here today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $11.00. Rated $15.00. Settled in the lead by approximately a length and when taken on at the top of the straight was found wanting and finished towards the tail of the field. Outcome -0.91 Units.

🏆🏆🏆STRATHALBYN R3 #2 Biancaptain @ $8.00 (0.72 UNITS WIN). This bloke should be ready to bounce with a repeat of his first all the way win in a weaker class here today.

Made its move on the turn going up three wide and taking the lead at the top of the straight and was never headed from there winning by about a lenght and a half. ⛪STRATHALBYN R5 #2 Dr Dependable @ $10.00 (0.56 UNITS WIN). Well performed in higher grade last prep and is 2nd up here after a solid run when 1st up over 1200m. Better suited at this 1600m and drawn inside to enjoy a good run behind the pace.

Result: Unplaced at SP $5.00. Rated $12.00. In the small compacted of six, settled in third just behind the leader. When asked to urge on the turn, didn’t find necessary speed and finished towards the tail of the field. Outcome -0.56 Units.

🏆🏆🏆STRATHALBYN R6 #1 Canford @ $4.60 (1.39 UNiTS WIN). Had my eye on this one last prep and performance was pretty good. Capable of a first up win.

Result: 1st at SP $2.20, Best Tote $2.50, Betfair $2.41. Rated $4.80. Settled one off the rails, around midfield. Was wide with cover and being worked on before the turn and horse finally responded at the top of the straight and accelerated away nicely to win by about 2 and bit lenghts. After deduction, advertised price come down to $4.57 meaning Outcome +6.35 Units.

🏆🏆🏆CAULFIELD R7 #4 Ocean Deep @ $4.60 (1.39 UNITS WIN). Just missed last start as fav and should be powering home over the top here today.

Result: 3rd at SP $5.00. Rated $6.95. Settled one off the rails, a little worse than midfield. Was one of widest on the turn and got going when the race was over and hit the line really well. Outcome – 1.00 Unit.

🏆🏆🏆DOOMBEN R3 #2 Auerbach @ $7.00 (0.84 UNITS WIN). Bad barrier last run but a good 3rd, nice overs today for the win. Now $4.40

Result: 1st at SP $4.60, Best Tote $4.50, Betfair $5.26. Rated $5.83. Good market support to jump time. Did a little work early to settle in second, just behind the leader. Pushed all the way to the line though able to poke its head in front with 50m to go and held on for the win. Outcome +5.88 Units.

⛪GAWLER R6 #10 Set To Cruise @ $5.00 (1.25 UNITS WIN). Won here last start when able to dictate from front and skip away. Conditions similar here and if can slot across from draw will be hard to hold out. T Pannell retains ride and looks well placed to win again at overs on offer.

Result: 2nd at SP $3.60. Rated $3.43. Settled towards the back, three wide with cover. Peeled four / five wide on the turn and kept on coming in the straight to gain 2nd on the line but still over a length from the winner. Outcome -1.25 Units.

RANDWICK R6 #6 First Hand @ $10.00 (0.56 UNITS WIN). Won at distance, soft and track and has Tommy Berry up. Looks good to me at a price.

Result: 3rd at SP $10.00. Rated $16.65. In the small bunched field, settled around midfield, one off the rails. Kept to the rails and had a clean run to the line though unable to run down the leader and eventual winner, Fell Swoop. Outcome -0.56 Units.

🏆🏆🏆RANDWICK R8 #7 Tip Top @ $9.00 (0.63 UNITS WIN). A big chance today from a better barrier i reckon. Nice win bet price.

Result: 1st at SP $7.00, Best Tote $7.70, Betfair $8.53. Rated $16.23. Settled in fourth, one off the rails, on the back of the favourite Organza. At the turn eased out three wide and levelled up to the leaders comfortably and released the breaks about the 300m mark and ran past the Organza to take the win by about a length. Outcome +5.67 Units.

DOOMBEN R8 #12 Churning @ $10.00 (0.56 UNITS WIN). One of the best value bets of the day IMO. Jeff Lloyd and Toby Edmonds are a proven combination and doesnt mind the sting out.

Result: 4th at SP $13.00. Rated $10.81. Settled midfield on the rails. On the turn found a nice passage on the rails to get into the race, though as it did, the leader Zoustyle got a winning margin while Churning who had inside runs all the way, tired late just prior to the line. Outcome -0.56 Units.

RANDWICK R9 #9 Regent @ $4.40 (1.48 UNITS WIN). May be a stronger lot here but he has what it takes to prove himself to move forward IMO and the wetter the better.

Result: 4th at SP $4.60. Rated $6.24. Sat three wide the trip. Was one of the widest on the turn and raced up looking to take on the leaders but tired and finished a couple of lengths from the winners. Outcome – 1.48 Units.

Result: 1st at SP $1.90, Best Tote $1.90, Betfair $1.96. Strong market support. Controlled the race from start to finish and won very very easily. Outcome +4.20 Units (33c deduction - so $2.80 on Advertised Pric.

Cranbourne Race 6 No.11 River Jewel @ $2.70 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: 4th at SP $3.70. After settling three wide with cover, presented in the straight to win but just didn’t finish off as one would hope. Outcome -1.50 Units.

On a day of soft tracks around the country, even though we found some decent priced horses that had market support, the best we could land was a couple of 2nds. Though due to our staking plans, losses was kept to a minimum.

Result: 2nd at SP $7.50. Rated $10.74. Settled towards the back on the rails in the smallish field. Got off the rails and found clean air, running on from the back but the winner, Clipper, was way too good. Decent run from Professor Marx though. Outcome -0.50 Units.

SCONE R8 #3 Wild Kingdom @ $16.00 (0.34 UNITS WIN). A good Rig this one and had a couple of lung openers at the 1600 and coming back to his winning distance for this. Nice price for a win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $17.00. Rated $16.03. Settled towards the tail of the field on the rails. While it ran on from the back nicely and made ground, was too far back to ever be a winning chance. Outcome - 0.34 Units.

CANTERBURY R4 #4 The Pharoah @ $14.00 (0.39 UNITS WIN). 30 Nov 2018 - Stewards Advice Post Race A post race veterinary examination revealed the runner to have lost its off fore and near hind plates. I expect him to finish a lot closer to day at a nice price.

Result: 2nd at SP $8.00. Rated $14.77. Good start from the wide barrier and lead the field. Lead until the final 150m when Penbroke Castle got off its back and swopped past despite the late rally back from The Pharoah. Outcome -0.39 Units

CANTERBURY R7 #8 Nicochet @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN). Had the lung buster last run and drops back in grade and distance. Nice win price.

Result: Unplaced at SP $9.50. Rated $6.02. Settled towards the tail off decent tempo. In a race that was won by the leader, Fuel, while Nicochet who was one of the widest runners and ran on well despite finishing towards the back never a winning hope. Outcome -1.12 Units.

Moonee Valley Race 7 No.7 Freehearted @ $4.40 (1.48 UNITS WIN)

Result: 3rd at SP $3.80. Despite having the back and a nice cart into the race from the 2nd placed horse, Sherrif John Stone, was never able to run on and finish the way we would have hoped. Outcome -1.48 Units.

Moonee Valley Race 8 No.11 Our Chiquilla @ $6.50 (0.91 UNITS WIN)

Thu 13th December

With extreme rain events across the east coast today, and considering the track conditions are going to be much different to the Good 3-4 that most horses have been running on in the previous weeks, it could really turn results rather random.

We aren’t willing to risk it - and having the smarts to not bet is as important as being able to find value winners.

If you do have a bet, I’d suggest looking for value long-shots who have a modicum of superior wet form.

We will stick with our Rocktober selections though as we trust DW to know whether the conditions suit or not, and because his training methods allow him to run horses on various track conditions.

Try as we might, we could not find any VALUE SSSS tips today. When we started looking at this day, yesterday, it looked ordinary - with many trap races, some very short ones, and many unknowns.

Our SA Analyst had the same trouble there. We don’t have a bet for the sake of it and that’s something you should heed as well. We do have some Rocktober selections though, and they look very strong (albeit shortish).

Sandown Race 3 No.5 Write Your Name @ $1.55 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: 2nd at SP $1.65. Caught in a pocket and by time it got out and found clean air at the 100m mark, it was all too late. Outcome -1.50 Units.

Sandown Race 8 No.3 Bringit @ $4.20 (1.57 UNITS WIN)

Result: 3rd at SP $4.80. From the midfield, was one of widest on the turn and ran on well to reduce the back but was a little too far back to make an impression on the winners. Outcome -1.57 Units.

ARARAT R5 #3 Vostok @ $2.80 (use price boost if possible) 2.78 UNITS WIN. Down in grade, has some very good form in front of it, the last few starts and looks much better that what he is up against here, albeit, not won for a while.

Result: Unplaced at SP $2.90. Rated $9.15. Settled in the last part of the eight horse field on the rails. Was widest on the turn as it presented for its run but never came on as expected. Outcome -2.78 Units.

ARARAT R6 #4 Pellina @ $4.20 (1.57 UNITS WIN). Across from Narracorte last start where she fought on well. It good value on our ratings and is a mare in form, so lets stick with her here.

Result: 4th at SP $4.60. Rated $2.58. Settled in third about two lengths off the leader in a strung out field. Backmarkers came on in the straight while Pellina ran out to the line in a respectable manner. Outcome -1.57 Units.

ARARAT R7 #10 Golden Physician @ $4.60 (1.39 UNITS WIN). Down in class and a perfect draw here at Ararat where we hope she can lead as against the favourite in barrier 7. Good value here on the map.

Result: Unplaced at SP $2.80. Rated $4.58. Settled in third on the rails, a length behind the leader. Caught in a pocket at the top of the straight though got out in plenty of time, just not good enough as backmarkers swooped for victory. Outcome -1.39 Units.

PORT LINCOLN R8 #5 Clarefelilli @ $13.00 (0.42 UNITS WIN). A good win last run and a little extra weight but IMO she can handle it here today. Nice win price too.

🏆🏆🏆WERRIBEE R8 #4 Makahu Boy @ $7.00 (0.84 UNITS WIN). Makahu Boy had his first start as a 7YO and made it a winning debut when a despised outsider! Given he took so long to get to the racetrack, it is natural to expect he will continue to improve with racing. Just won his trial leading up to this and can win FU again.

Result: 1st at SP $2.45, Best Tote $2.40, Betfair $2.76. $6.76 after scratchings. Good plunge and overs good smilled upon us. Outcome +5.68 Units.

ROCKTOBERS:

🏆🏆🏆Werribee Race 1 No.2 Inala Max @ $3.30 (1.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: 1st at SP $3.40, Best Tote $3.40, Betfair $4.10. In the four horse field, was hard ridden on the turn not responding but when it straightened, its mind got on the job and cruised away for a comfortable victory. Outcome +4.95 Units

Werribee Race 2 No.3 Aurora Charm @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN)

Result: 3rd at SP $6.50. Ran on well from the back in the five horse field though too far back and the winner, Delvecchio, was way too good. Outcome -1.12 Units.

Werribee Race 5 No.3 Spicer @ $4.40 (1.48 UNITS WIN)

Result: 2nd at SP $6.50. Spicer hit the front marginly until Crimson Tears was released. Though Spicer continued through the line and ran well to hold 2nd. Outcome -1.48 Units.

Result: 1st at SP $3.30, Best Tote $3.30, Betfair $3.78. On the turn as the jockey made its move, looked good and being held. When got into the straight, jockey released the reins and Crimson Tears ran away for a comfortable victory on the line. Outcome +6.51 Units

Result: 3rd at SP $3.10. Settled towards the back. Was widest at the 250m mark in clean air. Got going late and finished off well to nab 3rd. Never a winning hope though as leader always looked too good. Outcome -1.12 Units.

ROSEHILL R4 #2 Naval Warfare @ $6.50 (0.91 UNITS WIN). Is flying at the moment and overdue for a win. Drops down in grade today and a weight claim should get him very close to the win.

Result: 4th at SP $7.50. Rated $10.71. Settled in the lead on the rails, Taken on for a share of lead at the 800m though still held a share of the lead. Kept on kicking in the straight and only fell away from the first two over the line in last 100m and just went down narrowly in a photo for third. Outcome -0.91 Units.

DOOMBEN R4 #9 I’ve Gotta Nel @ $12.00 (0.46 UNITS WIN). Last four runs have come with no disgrace. Has a claim with CB aboard and can handle the slow track.

Result: Unplaced at SP $9.00. Rated $9.47. From the inside barrier, went forward to the lead on the rails. No real kick on the straight and from the 200m mark, main field caught up and from there finished in the last part off the field. Outcome -0.46 Units.

PAKENHAM R5 #5 Gibbon @ $31.00 (0.17 UNITS WIN). I really cant go by this son of Hoffa. If he has come back in order he will be closer to the finish now fitter. Loves the distance and any surface and not much to find out. I’m on for the win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $31.00. Rated $16.38. Good overlay. Settled in the last part of the field. Stayed towards the inside in the straight though never looked like a real winning chance finishing around midfield. Outcome -0.17 Units.

ROSEHILL R5 #1 Sir Bacchus @ $7.50 (0.77 UNITS WIN). Great run FU and does fire up SU with 2 wins from five. Sam Weatherly up with a claim of 2kg and expected to run well with that big finish that he has.

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.00. Rated $7.17. From the wide barrier was jagged back in the last part of the field. Just before the turn, got a little unsettled and eventually jockey stoked it up on the turn for its run but Sir Bacchus had nothing to give. Outcome -0.77 Units.

⛪MORPHETTVILLE R5 #1 Cullingworth @ $5.00 (1.25 UNITS WIN). Raced in higher grades on Melb tracks last prep and form reads well for this. Fitter from 3 runs from spell and ready to produce his best.

Result: 3rd at SP $3.70. Rated $6.50. In the small, slowly run race, settled in fourth, one off the rails, following the eventual winner Single Handed. Cullingworth got off his back on the turn but didn’t have the pace to match Single Handed. Outcome -1.25 Units.

ASCOT R2 #2 Danny George @ $6.00 (1 UNIT WIN). Owned and trained by the Pope. Has had two lazy trials leading up to this but is undefeated 2 from 2 FU. Nice price for a win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $9.00. Rated $2.90. Massive overlay. From the wide barrier, jagged back to last. Was always well back and never challenged or looked like challenging for the win. Outcome -1.00 Units.

PAKENHAM R7 #3 Kiwia @ $4.60 (1.39 UNITS WIN). Has the Weir polish on him now for this and with the step up to 2500 and a good draw looks the winner IMO today at a good price.

ROSEHILL R8 #4 Asterius @ $7.00 (0.84 UNITS WIN). Does have a good turn of foot and has won SU. Looking forward to a good race with a strong finish here today.

Result: 3rd at SP $7.00. Rated $12.00. Settled in the last quarter of the field on the rails. Was on the widest on the turn and came into the race very nicely however it didn’t have the speed required to salute in the close finish. Outcome -0.84 Units.

MORNINGTON R6 #1 Charlie’s World @ $8.00  (0.72 UNITS WIN). Has won FU and comes here after a trial late Nov. Nice overs odds for a win.

Result: 4th at SP $8.50. Rated $4.93. Nice overlay. Settled at the back. Even though it ran home well, was too far back to ever be a winning chance in the run. Outcome -0.72 Units.

MUDGEE R5 #7 Hammoon Dancer @ $11.00  (0.50 UNITS WIN). Has won FU and had a handy trial a couple of weeks back should see her fitter for this at a very huge overlay for a handy win.

Result: 4th at SP $7.00. Rated $3.45. Nice overlay. Settled around midfield, on the rails. Got off the rails on the turn and went for a run up the middle of the track but encountered a little traffic. Found clean air with about 200m to go and finished well, though the momentum was stopped when able to find clean ground at the top of the straight. Outcome -0.50 Units.

BALLINA R6 #8 Jahez @ $20.00  (0.27 UNITS WIN). Worthy of a bet at this price after last two very unlucky runs missing the start, bouncing off heels and down outright unlucky. Usually jumps very well and gets on with it. Owned, trained and ridden by the Stanley’s and way overs.

Result: Unplaced at SP $11.00. Rated $9.12. Nice overlay at especially at the early price. Always at the tail and as speed went on from the back, Jahez found nothing and finished a long way last. Outcome -0.27 Units.

Result: 4th at SP $4.60. Rated $4.34. Settled behind the leaders in fifth, one length or so behind the leaders. On the turn, went up three wide, butt the winner and favourite, Bouffon, who continually made up steady ground from the 800m mark or so, exploded on the turn and ran away with victory, while Shaq made good ground late to get 4th. Outcome -1.12 Units.

TOWNSVILLE R2 #6 Prequel @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN). Jumped and won well this T & D as fav last run and may well repeat it at way overs for the win. Now: $3.10

Result: 3rd at SP $2.00. Rated $1.88. Absolutely smashed in betting. From the wide barrier, started well, settled in the lead, on the rails. Field really compacted on the turn and even though, Prequel, was under pressure a fair way out, kept on fighting until the last 50m or so when the margin got out to a length. Outcome -1.12 Units.

It’s good to be back to winning ways with both SSSS and Rocktober providing a winner each. The SSSS winner, Anamnesis, was really crunched in the betting from its advertised price of $9.50 to its SP $5.50. Hopefully you took the fixed price. There was also plenty of overlays provided, especially Redeem Bounty, who advertised price was $11.00, SP $8.00, while it was rated $3.70.

WARWICK FARM R2 #3 Above And Beyond @ $11.00 (0.50 UNITS WIN). Heading for a hat trick today after two good wins from last two starts. Up in grade but IMO he’s good enough to expand on his wins. Back in either race.

Result: 3rd at SP $10.00. Rated $8.06. Settled in a battle for 2nd, one off the rails, behind the speed. Stoked up on the turn but try as it hard as it could, couldn’t cut down the margin to the leader and eventual winner, Rosina Kojonup. Outcome -0.50 Units.

GAWLER R2 #2 Autmed @ $8.50  (0.67 UNITS WIN). Flew home last start after a shaky start when bumped back to last. A repeat of that finish and we collect an overs win.

Result: 3rd at SP $6.00. Rated $6.39. Settled one off the rails, about three lengths from the leader in a battle for fourth. Went three to four wide on the turn to try and join in the fight for the lead though couldn’t run down the leader and eventual winner, Set To Cruise, who increased its gap while Autmed finished in a close photo for 3rd. Outcome -0.67 Units.

🏆🏆🏆GAWLER R6 #6 Anamnesis @ $9.50  (0.59 UNITS WIN). Jumps from a good gate today and won 5 at this distance and 2 in this class. Looks ready to fire at way over the rated win price.

Result: 1st at SP $5.50, Best Tote $6.60, Betfair $5.94. Rated $3.94. Big overlay, especially on the advertised price of $9.50. Settled one off the rails in third, just behind the speed. Stoked up on the turn, and hit the lead 100m and driven to the line to salute by about a length. Tough gritty win. Outcome +2.49 Units.

WARWICK FARM R7 #8 Cosmic Reign @ $15.00  (0.36 UNITS WIN). Down in class and weight with 3 wins form last four. Looks a big chance at an overs win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $14.00. Rated $7.52. Nice overlay opportunity. From the inside barrier, jumped well, stayed on the rails and settled in a share of the lead. Was under pressure from just before the turn and lost it run from around 200m out and plodded away to the line to finish around midfield. Outcome -0.36 Units.

GAWLER  R7 #2 Redeem Bounty @$11.00  (1 UNIT WIN). Last start winner this course and distance when he ran strongly through the line to hold out the fav in a battle up the straight. Is up in grade but J Kah stays with him and is good value at $11/Rated $3.70 in our market.

Result: 4th at SP $8.00. Rated $3.73. Massive overlay. Settled in a battle for third, one off the rails, behind the speed. Stoked up the turn and had the leader and eventual winner, Table Of Wisdom, in its sights but couldn’t reign it in and finished in 4th as a couple of the back markers swamped late. Outcome -1.00 Unit.

Gave a kick on the turn but the winner, Chosen Prince (Five Point Selection available on Slack), always had it in its sight, took the lead 250m while Rage Against fought on well to hold onto third. HAMILTON R7 #13 Dark Ensign @ $10.00 (0.56 UNITS WIN). Narrowly beaten last start 3rd and should be fitter for this today, also a weight drop and overs price for a win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $6.00. Rated $6.97. Settled in fourth, two lengths behind the leader. When straightened, couldn’t find the pace required and finished midfield. Outcome -0.56 Units.

Result: 3rd at SP $3.00. At the point of the turn, was held up looking for a run. Eventually got a split but couldn’t run down the leader and nabbed on the line for 2nd. Outcome -2.50 Units.

Warrnambool Race 8 No.4 Truly High @ $4.80 (1.32 UNITS WIN)

Result: 4th at SP $7.50. Eventual winner, High Mode, made its move on the home turn and entering the straight had it won as the others were too far back and off the bit chasing for minor placings. Outcome -1.32 Units

Warrnambool Race 8 No.8 Penthouse Playboy @ $3.20 (2.28 UNITS WIN).

NB: This is a 4600m race ... hopefully the typical Weir fitness prevails. John Allen started off as a jumps jockey, so is a great judge of pace. Probably worth the QQ here as well.

Unfortunately we couldn’t start December the way November went with a small loss on SSSS and loss on Rocktober. The loss on SSSS was greater if you took Best Tote or Betfair as you could have got $8.50 about our one winner when plays first released via Slack, Happy Go Pluckey, though ended up starting at $3.80.
Hopefully a number of people did better than the official results and took advantage of the normal bonus bets / cash back available on some of the Saturday races through various bookmakers.

DOOMBEN R2 #5 Stanley @ $6.00 (1 UNIT WIN). If he gets to dictate the race he should run them to the post for a nice overs win.

Joined at the turn, gave a kick at about 200m and thought for a bit it could hold on for the win until two backmakers swopped down the outside to nab Stanley. Good fight. Outcome -1.00 Unit.

🏆🏆🏆GOLD COAST R7 #4 Happy Go Pluckey @ $8.50 (0.67 UNITS WIN). Takes him a while to get going in his prep but comes up here with a good draw and good overs to have a go for the win.

Result: 1st at SP $3.80, Best Tote $4.05, Betfair $4.40. Rated $5.02. Settled midfield on the rails. Got off the rails just before the turn as it made its move, four wide around the home turn and let down well enough including over the final 100m to extend its lead to win. Outcome +5.00 Units

ROSEHILL R6 #4 Pecans @ $4.00 (1.67 UNITS WIN) Could have won by more last IMO but was pushed wide and laid in down the straight but kept coming to win by a head.

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.80. Rated $1.94. Nice overlay. Settled midfield, one off the rails Was off and chasing at the turn but didn’t really let down as you would expect and considering the circumstances, did well to finish in fifth. Outcome – 1.67 Units

ROSEHILL R7 #3 Spending To Win @ $9.00 (0.63UNITS WIN). Had excuses last start (17 Nov 2018 - Stewards Advice Post Race Rider Regan Bayliss reported that after racing keenly, his mount failed to respond after being placed under pressure. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a throat abnormality.) Should make up for this today IMO.

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.00. Rated $12.67. Settled just behind the leader and eventual winner, Invincible Star. Got to the outside at the top of the straight and try as hard it could to overtake but Invincible Star kept on kicking and holding the field to win. Outcome -0.63 Units.

⛪MORPHETTVILLE R7 # 8 Something Silver @ $3.80 (1.80 UNITS WIN). Looked strong chasing the winner over 1250m in BM75 grade race here last week. J Kah takes over and from good draw should sit behind the pace over 1300m. Has won at 1400m and should be strong again in straight in this lower grade.

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.20. Rated $6.10. Settled behind the leaders, one off the rails in third. Went three wide on the turn and took the lead soon after until the 200m mark when winner, Flying Krupt, went past it with ease and Something Silver eventually finished midfield. Outcome -1.80 Units.

ROSEHILL R9 #4 Tip Top @ $10.00 (0.56 UNITS WIN). Rider lost the whip on him as he was winding up and should have finished a lot closer. At this price im giving him a chance to atone for a win.

Result: 3rd at SP $8.50. Rated $9.55. Settled fourth on the rails behind the leaders. Clear room come the top of the straight and for a stride or two there was some hope it could catch the leaders but that thought soon closed and finished well to hold third. Outcome -0.56 Units.

Result: 2nd at SP $7.50. Stayed towards the inside and got tightened for a run at the top of the straight while the winner and favourite, Our Luca, two pairs wider got a clear run which was the difference at the end. When Kens Dream did have clear galloping room in the final 100m or so it was charging home but too late. Outcome -1.25 Units.
