Well we finished July off on the right foot thanks to Nicochet sprouting wings late to win on the line.
In terms of July, SSSS results were quite healthy especially if you took the Tote or Betfair (especially thanks to Ian on Friday 19th July) however the same can’t be said for Rocktober or Blackbooker selections which both finished in the red.

🏆🏆🏆WARWICK FARM R5 #3 Nicochet @ $4.80 (1.32 UNITS WIN). Likes this distance and down is class. If he can handle the soft he should go very close to the win.
Result: 1st at SP $3.40, Best Tote $3.20, Betfair $3.76. Rated $7.60. Settled midfield, one off the rails. Seem to be labouring at the top of the straight but in the final 100m really sprouted wings and ran down the leaders on the line. Outcome +6.32 Units
SUNSHINE COAST R7 #8 Lyrical Prince @ $9.50 (0.59 UNITS WIN). Had a little break and in a weaker class. Ready to bounce at overs for a win.
Result: Unplaced at SP $18.00. Rated $3.80. Massive overlay and drifter in the market. Settled at the tail of the field, initially wide then one off the rails. In the straight, kept to the inside but made no ground or impression on the winners and finished at the tail of the field. Disappointing. Outcome -0.59 Units.

Saturday seemed to be a day of minor placings with only the one winner via Sopressa in Race 4 at Caulfield however we had seven minor placings which at the end of the day does effect our bottom line.

CAULFIELD R4 #6 Geodesic @ $27.00 (0.20 UNITS WIN). May be up with some stronger horses here but has been knocking on the door and cant go past these overs here today for a win.
Result: Unplaced at SP $26.00. Rated $11.60. Nice overlay and value selection. Settled one out, one back in fourth in the seven horse field, about two lengths from the leader. Unfortunately when the pressure was applied, Geodesic found little and finished at the tail of the field. Outcome -0.20 Units.
MORPHETTVILLE R5 #2 Irish Mint @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN). Does handle the track conditions here also the distance and looks a good overs win bet today.
Result: 2nd at SP $5.00. Rated $2.80. Settled fourth, on the rails with a nice sit off the speed. On the turn, took the gap for its run home but the winner who lead from start to finish got a winning gap that Irish Mint just couldn’t chase down. Outcome -1.12 Units.
CAULFIELD R9 #8 Snitzepeg @ $9.50 (0.59 UNITS WIN). Has won 3rd up and C. Williams hops aboard to day which could be the deciding factor for his next win.
Result: 3rd at SP $12.00. Rated $11.70. Settled towards the tail of the field although three wide. Caught a little flat footed at the 600m mark and lost touch with the leaders. Worked home nicely to claim third on the line but was just too far back to cause the winners any concern. Outcome -0.59 Units.

Result: 1st at SP $2.30, Best Tote $2.50, Betfair $2.25. Settled in second, outside the leader. Moved forward on the turn and put its head in front and went on from there holding all challenges to win comfortably on the line. Outcome +3.75 Units.
CAULFIELD Race 4 No. 3 Fanciful Toff
Result: 3rd at SP $2.80. Settled midfield and hooked out on the turn to try and run down the leaders but the gap was big, going down narrowly for second. Outcome -1.50 Units.
CAULFIELD Race 5 No. 5 Wealthy Wolf
Result: 3rd at SP $9.00. Settled midfield after an early bumping jewel. Had a sound effort in the straight to claim third on the line a number of lengths from the winner. Outcome -0.63 Units.
CAULFIELD Race 6 No. 4 Taksu
Result: 2nd at SP $5.00. Lead and kept on kicking on the turn without ever getting a winning margin being grabbed in the shadow of the post to finish a close second. Outcome -1.25 Units.
MILDURA Race 6 No. 7 Lope De Field
Result: 4th at SP $10.00. Coming from the back stuck to the inside and while finished hard was still a number of lengths from the winners. Too far back. Outcome -0.56 Units.
CAULFIELD Race 8 No. 3 Cliffs Edge
Result: 3rd at SP $5.50. Settled third on the rails, a couple of lengths from the leader. Kept going in the straight and just held on for third on the line but no match for the winner. Outcome -1.11 Units.
CAULFIELD Race 9 No. 6 Sylpheed
Result: Unplaced at SP $18.00. Settled midfield and hard ridden from the turn and kept going in the straight to finish midfield. Outcome -0.29 Units.

Bel Diablo, a SSSS selection, was easily the highlight of the day leading basically from start to finish in Race 6 at Canterbury at double figure odds. Unfortunately another double figure selection in Arohata, a Rocktober selection, finished a brave second in Sandown Race 4

🏆🏆🏆CANTERBURY R6 #10 Bel Diablo @ $12.00 (0.46 UNITS WIN). Comes in light here after last start win. Better class here but does have what it takes to progress through the grades.
Result: 1st at SP $9.50, Best Tote $10.40, Betfair $12.00. Rated $9.00. Went forward and settled on the rails as the leader by about half a length or so. Kicked on the turn to lead by about a length on the second placed horse and while a bit wayward in the straight was able to maintain its lead to hold off all challenges to win. Outcome +4.86 Units (after deductions).
CANTERBURY R7 #4 Zoffany’s Lad @ $9.00 (0.63 UNITS WIN). Won a trial here recently and not beyond a win here today at overs.
Result: Unplaced at SP $11.00. Rated $6.00. In a well strung out field, Zoffany’s Lad settled in the last part of the field, one off the rails. Not happy with the speed, Zoffany’s Lad moved forward and by the turn had a share of the lead. When the speed increased in the straight, Zoffany’s Lad dropped and finished at the tail of the field. Outcome -0.63 Units.

SANDOWN HILLSIDE Race 3 No. 4 Connery
Result: 3rd at SP $2.25. Settled midfield and in its run home saved ground by staying towards the rails but was no match for the winner and all the way lead who won by a number of lengths. Outcome -1.50 Units.
SANDOWN HILLSIDE Race 4 No. 12 Arohata
Result: 2nd at SP $11.00. Settled towards the lead and on the home turn was up near the lead though was three wide. Took the lead for a short period at about the 300m mark though was quickly overtaken by the eventual winner which Arohata couldn’t keep with. Outcome -0.50 Units.

CANTERBURY R1 #3 Deterge @ $11.00 (0.50 UNITS WIN). Recent trials in the heavy suggests he couldn’t handle the going but has had a couple of decent trials previously that took the eye.

RANDWICK R4 #4 Bye See @ $11.00 (0.50 UNITS WIN). Everything going right for her here today and way over the odds for a win.
Result: Unplaced at SP $18.00. Rated $5.40. Nice overlay and value. Settled in third on the rails a length or so behind the leader. When looking to make its move in the straight was squeezed and tightened for room and dropped out to finish towards the tail of the field. No luck when it needed it. Outcome -0.50 Units.
EAGLE FARM R5 #2 Gypsy Toff @ $8.50 (0.67 UNITS WIN). In stronger class race but IMO she is the class horse of this race at well overs for a win.
Result: Unplaced at SP $6.50. Rated $4.30. Nice overlay and value. From the inside barrier, held the rails position in share of the lead. Entering the straight, held a couple length lead though was unable to maintain the lead and the margin and weakened in the final 250m or so to finish midfield. Outcome -0.67 Units.
FLEMINGTON R5 #7 Angelic Spirit @ $11.00 (0.50 UNITS WIN). In a stronger class with a good weight claim. Loves this distance and if a recent jump out win is anything to go by she could leave a gap between her and the rest of the field.
