Rocktober Special Selections

To help you and provide extra value to your membership we are pleased to announce that we will continue these selections until the end of November!

Our “Rocktober” selections (to give them a name) - will appear separately on this page and hopefully will provide additional profits.

These selections are derived from some intel I’ve gathered from speaking to a few industry people and hopefully these selection will not only ‘beat the handicapper’ but also provide some good returns. We always bet them to PROFIT 5 units like our regular selections and they only qualify officially if the SP is less than $8.50, unless we note otherwise in the comments.

We are performing an additional analysis on these selections which is finding a subset of them that are potentially worthy of an additional bet. Early days, but I’ll designate these with *** (around midday) so you can follow the progress of these “special” Rocktobers.

Well we finished November on a high with official selections as Gold Fields, a SSSS selection, toughing it out for a good win meaning profit for the day. Unfortunately the bonus Mr Pretium selections couldn’t follow suite with only a couple of selections grabbing minor placings.

For the month of November, both SSSS and Rocktober finished in profit, you can’t ask for more than that!!!!! Its a good reward for the hard work the tipsters put in. Well done guys!!!!!!!

CANBERRA R3 #4 Veedouble @ $13.00 (0.42 UNITS WIN). Was a strong win to break the mdn and has just been getting better and fitter and a nice price to watch him go on with it.

Result: Unplaced at SP $26.00. Rated $9.73. Big draft and overlay. Dipped at the start, jockey lucky to stay on and settled last. Stayed to the inside in the straight but never looked a winning chance. May have bungled its chances at the start. Outcome -0.42 Units.

IPSWICH R2 #6 Betajet @ $15.00 (0.36 UNITS WIN). Has the benefit of a few runs and a 5.5L win last start. Metis will burn up a bit of energy trying to get across where Betajet should jump and hug the rail and hopefully lead all the way. At this overs price im willing to have a win bet to find out.

Result: 4th at SP $10.00. Rated $4.80. Good overlay and value in the small field. Settled at the rear on the rails. Was widest on the turn and while it hit the line well, was too far back to make an impression on the winners. Outcome -0.36 Units

🏆🏆🏆WODONGA R7 #4 Gold Fields @ $4.60 (1.39 UNITS WIN). Drops 6kg from last start win even after a check at the 1000m. A gutsy fella IMO and looks a good win bet at overs.

Result: 1st at SP $5.00, Best Tote $6.00, Betfair $5.88. Rated $3.51. Settled midfield, one off the rails, off a fast pace. Stayed towards the inside and never went around a horse as breaks opened up. In the final 200m, it was a battle to the line with Black Sails and able to gets it head to the line first after it looked liked Black Sails would get the win. Tough win. Outcome +

IPSWICH R6 #3 Ecker Road @ $7.00 (0.84 UNITS WIN). Was unlucky in the run last start but cannot fault his 4 wins previous and get to atone here today.

Result: 3rd at SP $8.50. Rated $8.22. Settled in fifth, on the rails, about three lengths off the leader. Had a share of the lead at the top of the straight and fought it out with the leaders before two backmarkers stormed home and grabbed the win on the line. Outcome -0.84 Units.

Relatively quiet day with the four SSSS selections and zero Rocktober selections. Though the SSSS selections did pick a winner via Mount Horeb to ensure we finished the day in front. Could have had another winner via Mackellor Love with a softer run but we finished in front so that the important thing for the day.

KYNETON R4 #1 Afrikaans @ $12.00 (0.46 UNITS WIN). I feel strongly about tipping this mdn after her FU 3rd. Watch the replay below and see where she was and the run to get out and show a decent turn of foot.

Result: Unplaced at SP $17.00. Settled towards the tail in the small field. Always towards the tail as the leaders controlled the race from start to finish. Outcome -0.46 Units.

🏆🏆🏆KYNETON R8 #1 Mount Horeb @ $4.00 (1.67 UNITS WIN). Kept coming last start when 3rd. Down in grade and weight and just that little further to finish a good wind up for the line.

Result: 1st at SP $2.90, Best Tote $3.10, Betfair $3.63. Rated $2.69. From the wide barrier, sat three wide behind the leader in the run. Despite the tougher run, did really well in the final 150m or so to rundown the horse on its inside during the run who pinched a mini break in the straight. Good tough solid win. Outcome +

NARROMINE R6 #3 Mackellar’s Love @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN). Two wins from the last four, has wet form and has Pracey- Holmes again. Thats a few +++ for her today IMO.

Result: 2nd at SP $13.00. Rated $7.36. Drifter until jump time. After being caught wide early decided to battled for the lead and ended up settling in second, outside the leader. Took the lead at the top of the straight and only run down by the winner, Something Borrowed (SP $3.10) who settled midfield on the rails in the final 100m or so. Mackellar’s Love did run on well to the line. Outcome -1.12 Units.

PAKENHAM R5 #3 Bright Eyes @ $10.00 (0.56 UNITS WIN). Had 118 days off when FU 5th 2.5L which was’nt a bad run at all considering where she was in running. Fitter for that run and i expect her to be closer today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.50. Rated $12.10. Settled as the leader. Straightened up on a narrow lead though was quickly under pressure and folded and finished in the back half of the field. Outcome -0.56 Units.

Hopefully you all joined Slack as it provided another official winner today in the 2nd at Strathalbyn. Plus to top today off, we got the last in Sydney. Somehow the deluge in Sydney, missed Warwick Farm and they got through the full race program. We could have had a third winner via Rocktober though River Jewel can count itself unlucky after copping a bit of interference in the straight from the third placed horse.

⛪STRATHALBYN R2 #4 Go Straightandhard @ $3.20 (2.28 UNITS WIN). Strong win this T/D last start and can repeat here. D Jolly/ J Kah combine again and from inside draw will have run of race and prove too strong. Happy to take overs.

🏆🏆🏆Result: 4th at SP $2.00. Rated $1.98. Settled on the rails in about third, a couple of lengths behind the leaders in the small field. Made it’s run at the top of the straight but didn’t have the kick it needed or expected from a $2 favourite. On Slack, advised to back Bulletproof (1.32 Units at $4.80, Rated $7.08) who settled in 2nd, joined the leader at the top of the straight, kicked and won at SP $5.00, Best Tote $6.20, Betfair $6.21. Outcome +6.34 Units

GOLD COAST R5 #1 Trois Choix @ $4.60 (1.39 UNITS WIN). Raced against better lot than this last couple and not beat by far at all. Drops a grade and should get the spoils with a bit of luck.

Result: 2nd at SP $3.90. Rated $3.84. Settled on the rails, a length or so behind the leaders (which included the winner Lotta Creek Gold) in fourth in a strung out field. Had a couple of goes at passing the leader and winner including again on the line, but Lotta Creek Gold kept on finding and we couldn’t find enough acceleration Outcome -1.39 Units.

WARWICK FARM R6 #2 Envy Of All @ $8.50 (0.67 UNITS WIN). Does’nt mind the sting out of the ground at all and has had two trials recently leading to this. Down in class and loves this distance.

Result: Unplaced at SP $13.00. Rated $7.46. Settled at the taiil of the field in the small field. Never got going on the heavy track and finished at the tail of the field, a number of lengths from the winner. Outcome -0.67 Units.

🏆🏆🏆WARWICK FARM R7 #3 Regent @ $4.20 (1.57 UNITS WIN). The reasons why i reckon this bloke is ready to fire is his 3rd placing was a decent run and has just won a barrier trial last week and has won in the wet. Has blinkers for the first time.

Result: 1st at SP $4.80, Best Tote $4.70, Betfair $5.10. Settled at the tail of the field in the small bunched field. Stoked up on the turn and joined the leaders as the widest runner. Jockey had a good hold on him and let it go at about the 200m mark and accelerated away for a comfortable victory in the end. Outcome +6.59 Units.

NB: Keep an eye on our comments in Slack re Warwick Farm. I am not betting these yet and will wait and see on how that meeting goes.

ROCKTOBER Selections:

Sandown Race 5 No.11 River Jewel @ $6 (1 UNIT WIN)

Result: 2nd at SP $8.00. After sitting 3rd behind the leaders, joined in at the 400m mark, received a bump or two up the straight from the third place horse, tightened for room as well and only went by a neck. A little cleaner run and it could have been a different story. Outcome -1.00 Units.

Sandown Race 7 No.10 Our Chiquilla @ $6 (1 UNIT WIN)

Result: Non Qualifier - Unplaced at SP $8.50

Offical plays on both SSSS and Rocktober came back to winning ways. Our SSSS winner Frugal shortened from advertised price of $4.20 to SP $2.25 while the Rocktober selection became an official play as per the advice from Slack just prior to jump - just another reason to join if you haven’t already.

BENDIGO R8 #2 Triage @ $7.00 (0.84 UNITS WIN). Up against it last start after a check and bustled back out of it. Ms Pearson has had the best success on him and should be able to get him to post on time at overs for the win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $6.00. Rated $5.41. Settled on the rails, in 2nd spot. When pressure applied on the turn, Triage couldn’t keep up and finished towards the tail of the field. Outcome -0.84 Units.

🏆🏆🏆ROCKHAMTON R6 #4 Frugal @ $4.20 (1.57 UNITS WIN). Nice on pace win last start and all going well could repeat that here today at a nice overs price. Now $3.50

Result: 1st at SP $2.25, Best Tote $2.40, Betfair $2.50. Rated $2.92. Good market support all the way till jump time. Settled on the rails, in a share of the lead off a fast pace. Kept to the rails and had a kick at about the 300m mark and no one was able to keep up and won by over 2 lengths. Good win. Outcome +6.59 Units

Bendigo Race 3 No.10 Rondelle @ $19 - price unlikely

🏆🏆🏆Bendigo Race 9 No.9 Cash Affair @ $14 - price unlikely, however with John Allen riding …. if he can get across from the wide barrier into a good position - could be a value E/W bet. Not official, but we will be looking at that option.

Result: 1st at SP $10.00, Best Tote $10.60, Betfair $12.50. Each way players Super Tab $2.90 and Betfair $3.28. Shortened to $7.50 before easing out very late. Came from next to last, took rails run, shortest way home, while most other runners took the middle of the track and hit the lead 100m out and held on for victory. This became an official play as via ‘Slack’ - just another reason to join. Outcome +5.71 Units.

As you can see - you should easily be able to beat our “official prices” … by using the various options out there and also taking account of bonus offers (and bet boosts) which can make a significant difference over a month. And remember, when a runner drifts we are locked in “officially” at the ‘bad’ price, but you can get on for much less at the higher price.

Not the best of days today with only the one winner provided through SSSS to go with a couple of minor placings and a number of unplaced finishes. With a bit of luck, could have been a much better day - thought Gatting Ball was home at the 200m mark and Zip A Dee Doo Dah with a little luck could have gone very close - but that’s racing for you.

ROSEHILL R2 #5 Lady Mironton @ $5.00 (1.25 UNITS WIN). Between the #5 & #2 here and at the pull in the weights I’ve gone the #5. She steps up to 1500m and should very well handle it at a nice rated win price. Now $4.40.

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.00. Rated $4.20. Settled in third, one off the rails, behind the leaders. Just off the turn got off the leaders backs and when you expected the horse to  accelerate, instead it just laboured and then battled away to the line. Outcome -1.25 Units.

BALLARAT R3 #7 Pedro Ximenez @ $14.00 (0.39 UNITS WIN). Not the best barrier but has time to manoeuvre into a good spot IMO. Drops in weight and is priced right for a win today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $12.00. Rated $13.00. Settled towards the tail of the field. Lost touch with the field at the turn and finished well back, never a winning hope. Outcome -0.39 Units

🏆🏆🏆ROSEHILL R3 #6 Demerara @ $5.00 (1.25UNITS WIN). I would forget her last run. She is a strong mare that i noticed in her latest trial and a previous trial i’ve viewed. Should go very close here today.

Result: 1st at SP $5.50, Best Tote $5.90, Betfair $7.00. Rated $8.00. Settled towards the tail. Got a nice run into the race and peeled out on the turn. Hit the lead with about 100m to go and held off the challengers to win nicely on the line. Outcome +6.25 Units

BALLARAT R5 #2 Really Swish @ $9.50 (0.59 UNITS WIN). Comes this far and still a mdn but has some form against some good 2yo horses. Good value overs win bet here today IMO.

Result: 4th at SP $16.00. Rated $7.50. Drifter before becoming steady in price. Settled towards the tail of the field. Hard ridden before the turn and while it hit the line well, was too far back to be a winning hope. Outcome -0.59 Units.

ROSEHILL R5 #6 Tip Top @ $13.00 (0.42 UNITS WIN). Forgive his last run, missed the jump. If he some luck today he should be a good bet for the win at overs.

Result: Unplaced at SP $21.00. Rated $14.00. Settled towards the tail, one off the rails. Stoked up on the turn and while it did finish off well, never a real winning chance. Outcome -0.42 Units.

📫⛪Morphettville R5 #7 France's Boy @$3.60 1.92 UNITS WIN. Strong finishing effort first up last start over 1000m was an eye catcher and steps up to 1250m here. Has won 2nd up and this distance and with G Cartwright claim will carry 52.5. Can sit off pace and run home to win here.

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.80. Rated $4.20. Settled towards the tail of the field, three wide with cover. Its run peaked at the 200m mark when it looked like it could challenge for victory. Outcome -1.92 Units.

ROSEHILL R9 #7 Zip A Dee Doo Dah @ $12.00 (0.46 UNITS WIN). Has a good record FU SU & TU for wins and this distance and i am willing to take overs here to say that he could repeat last win so has to fire soon.

Result: 3rd at SP $13.00. Rated $12.00. Settle towards the tail of the field, one off the rails. Went for inside runs and was tightened for room until about 200m mark when finally pushed through, found clean air and finished well for third. If it got out earlier, probably would have made the finish very interesting. Outcome -0.46 Units.

TERANG R5 #10 Skalacci @ $5.00 (1.25 UNITS WIN) Collared on the post two back where he should have won IMO. We get another chance at an overs price here today. Now $6.50

Result: Unplaced at SP $7.50. Rated $3.40. Also a SSSS selection. Settled towards the tail of the field and while had a clear run home couldn’t make any headway on the winners. Never a winning hope in the run. Outcome -0.91 Units.

TERANG R6 #9 Careering Away @ $6.50 (0.91 UNITS WIN). On pace and honest three placings and a BT win since resuming and may be a genuine threat at overs for the win here today.

Result: 2nd at SP $4.40. Rated $4.80. After easing out of the early battle for the lead, settled in fifth on the rails. While we encountered a little trouble in the straight finding clean air the leader and eventual winner, Lonruse, found a three length lead at the top of the straight which was enough to hold on for victory. NARACOORTE R5 #3 Bronski @ $3.90 (1.73 UNITS WIN) It would be ideal to have this fella drift in the betting but IMO he could just repeat his last performance. Now $4.20

Result: 2nd at SP $2.60. Rated $3.40. Settled one of the rails in fourth. Went three wide on the turn as it made its move and battled with the winner, Century Shot, all the way up the straight though could never got in front. Outcome -1.73 Units.

ORANGE R8 #7 Coolaminyah Kid @ $12.00 (0.46 UNITS WIN) Has won first up in a previous prep this year around this distance range and is expected to run well again fresh. Now $15.

MOE R9 #8 Diamond Beauty @ $7.50 (0.77 UNITS WIN). Been knocking on the door with some good placings and looks good here against this lot from a fav barrier. A nice overs win price today. Followed the winner, Dallas Storm at SP $151, for majority of trip and even pushed it wide on the turn, though in the straight Dallas Storm just had too much acceleration in the concluding stages to take victory while we got 2nd in a photo. Result: 2nd at SP $2.05. After joining the leaders, including the winner Grey Khan, at the top of the straight, Grey Khan had another kick that High Done couldn’t answer. Also the mini bumping jewel in the straight didn’t help. Though no excuses, Grey Khan was too good. Outcome -2.50 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $5.00. Always out the back and never looked like a winning chance despite encountering some traffic on the turn and having to change course back to the rails. Outcome -1.25 Units

NB: This race could make a very good RewardBet with the qualifers as bankers for 1st with the others 2/3 spots.

Result: 2nd at SP $3.70. Was a battle between the first two for the whole race, We had the rails during the run, Majestic Halo sat outside. Strong battle in the straight but Majestic Halo just a little to go to win by half a head. Close. Outcome -1.57 Units.

NB: The three qualifiers are a losing situation if we bet them all (even if we win the race). Result: 1st at SP $5.50, Best Tote $5.10, Betfair $6.79. Rated $7.00. In the small field settled in third, one off the rails off the slow speed. Kept to the inside as breaks went his way and able to wear down the leader and keep off the backmakers to salute for victory. Not the best of race, but a win a win. Outcome +5.91 Units.

DUNKELD R4 #8 Bontazola @ $9.50 (0.59 UNITS WIN). Good win on debut last prep and drops in weight here form last run. Willing to have another go off first win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $19.00. Rated $11.00. Settled in second, outside the leader. In the turn, did its best to challenge though couldn’t run on. Outcome -0.59 Units.

🏆🏆🏆ROSEHILL R5 #6 Firsthand @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN). His last two runs are better than they look on paper, Does come home very well and shouldn’t be far off a cheque here today.

Result: 1st at SP $3.60, Best Tote $3.70, Betfair $4.30. Rated $9.50. Settled in 3rd, just behind the speed on the rails. Once it got the split and clear room at the 250m mark, Firsthand put the race in its keeping and held all challengers comfortably. Way too good for this field. Outcome +6.16 Units.

ROSEHILL R6 #7 Dissolution @ $10.00 (0.56 UNITS WIN). We tipped this fella last start and he didn’t let us down when well backed and run 2nd. Willing to have him again here at a nicely rated price for the win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.50. Rated $13.00. Settled in third, one off the rails, about a length or so behind the leaders. Presented on the home turn for its challenge but didn’t have the speed to pick up and overtaken by a couple of the backmakers in the last 100m. Outcome -0.56 Units.

ROSEHILL R7 #1 Badajoz @ $8.50 (0.67 UNITS WIN) Comes back to Sydney today after a couple of runs the wrong way round for him. Like this track & distance and expected to be better today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $17.00. Rated $13.00. Settled towards the tail of the field. Was widest on the turn, though never made an impression in terms of prizemoney. As a result, jockey didn’t push the horse hard towards the end. Outcome -0.67 Units.

SANDOWN R9 #10 Invincible Al @ $9.00 (0.67 UNITS WIN). Has form here and can settle mid to handy and fly home IMO at pretty decent odds. We are on for the win today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $12.00. Rated $8.00. Settled towards the tail of the field. Stayed to the inside and while had uninterrupted run to the line and finished respectfully was no match for the winners. Outcome -0.67 Units

KYNETON R5 #7 Gold Mogul @ $16.00 (0.34 UNITS WIN). Has struck good form and going for a hat trick here after the last 2 wins as fav. Is rated overs for a win bet here today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $13.00. Rated $8.00. Overlay opporuntiy. Had some early market support to $8.00 before drifting back out to $13.00. Settled in third just behind the leading pack. Unfortunately in the straight couldn’t find the necessary speed to finish it off though did run through the line to finish midfield. Outcome -0.34 Units.

MURWILLUMBAH R4 #5 Jahez @ $7 (0.77 UNITS WIN). Have to tip this fella after a win 3 runs back. Down in class for this and should be in it for a long way.

Result: Unplaced at SP $9.50. Rated $8.00. From the wide gate, dropped to the tail o the field a couple lengths off the next placed horse. Stayed to the inside and while finished off okay, wasn’t ridden hard and never looked like a legitimate winning chance. Outcome -0.77 Units.

MURWILLUMBAH R6 #2 Crooked Gent @ $4.40 (1.48 UNITS WIN). Last two races he won very well with a shaky start and interference. With better luck, hopefully the hat-trick here.

Result: 3rd at SP $6.00. Rated $6.50. Settled towards the back of the field. Stayed to the inside and while had a relatively uninterrupted run to the line and fiinished nicely for third, was three lengths off the winner. Just too far back. Outcome -1.48 Units.

MOONEE VALLEY R3 #5 La Maestra @ $5.50 (1.12 UNIT WIN). Run on pace and won both starts back from a spell and won them well. First start in the city and not rated but they were good wins. (edited)

Result: Unplaced at SP $7.00 Rated $15.00. Settled in about 5th, one off the rails just behind the speed. Held ground in the straight without making inroads into the gap to be a winning chance. Outcome -1.12 Units.

PORT LINCOLN R6 #1 Eye the World @ $ 6.50 (0.91 UNIT WIN) Consistent performer who won 4 starts back this T/D. Has since recorded placings same T/D next 3 starts incl a strong finishing 2nd last start in BM80 grade. Back to 64 Grade here and with 3 kg claim for Apprent G Lo will be hard to hold out.

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.80. Rated $7.00. Settled at the tail of the field and during the race was no closer than three wide. On the turn was pushed even wider on the turn. While it the line very well in the close finish between first six or so horses (within a length and a half), was too far back to be a legitimate winning chance. Outcome -0.91 Units.

Well a winning day on both the SSSS and Rocktober selections with one winning selection provide by each. SEYMOUR R6 #4 Vivacity @ $5.00  (1.25 UNITS WIN). Cant knock the form or the overs on this mare with a win and 2 second the last three. Being held safe by bookies this AM and it's an overlay on our ratings.

Result: 2nd at SP $3.60. Rated $4.20. Settle off the rails midfield. Got into the clear early in the straight and tried hard to run down the winner, Waterford Sound (SP $16.00) who was up on speed but just couldn’t reel it in despite the big bounds just before the line. Outcome -1.25 Units.

PORT MACQUARIE R8 #5 Just Sizzling @ $5.50  (1.12 UNITS WIN). Another one we found last night at $9 and has been supported, but still above our rated price. Unlucky last two runs so did well for 2nd. Comes back in trip here after a lung opener last start and is overs for the win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $6.50. Rated $5.50. From the wide gate, settled towards the tail, three wide with cover. Started to work its way into the race nicely but on the turn when the whips were cracking, Just Sizzling couldn’t find the necessary speed. Outcome -1.12 Units.

🏆🏆🏆BEAUDESERT R7 #3 The Groom @ $7.50  (0.77 UNITS WIN). Another one we had at $10 last night, but is a double overlay still on our ratings. May have a tad more weight for this but IMO he will handle it well after his last start win.

Result: 1st at SP $8.50, Best Tote $10.20, Betfair $9.45. Rated $4.20. Nice overlay and value selection. Settled just behind the decent speed on the rails. Went three wide on the turn and worked nicely into the race and fought hard to run down the leader and win by 3/4 of a length. Good gritty win. Outcome +5.78 Units.

From the selections today, only the winner which saw SSSS end in Profit though no returns for Rocktober. With our other runners that didn’t salute, there was a couple of minor placings and a couple of disappointing results.

MURRAY BRIDGE R1 #2 High Rolla @ $14.00  (0.39 UNITS WIN). The fresh horse on the scene here and ready to win after two good runs this prep. Coming off a last start third where he finished strongly at BM64 level. A Jockey change to senior hoop T Pannell  also adds merit. The Fav and topweight must carry 7.5Kgs more and is also up 200m in distance so is vulnerable and great value we think.

Result: 2nd at SP $6.50. Rated price $7.00. Good solid market support. Settled just the behind the leader. Bit of a mid race move by another horse to inject speed into the race. At the turn, peeled out three wide and hit the lead but was joined by winner, Olympic Academy, who followed us every step of the race. It was a battle up the straight but Olympic Academy was just too strong winning by a head on the line. Outcome -0.39 Units.

🏆🏆🏆HAWKESBURY R3 #3 Above And Beyond @ $2.80 (2.50 UNITS WIN). Shorter than some of our tips but was very impressive last start, winning and from the inside barrier maps very well here. We suggest a bet-boost if you can get one as it has come in strongly from the $3.40 it was last night when we wrote this.

Result: 1st at SP $2.80, Best Tote $2.80, Betfair $3.18. Rated $3.90. Settled in 2nd, on the rails. Was able to pinch a break just after the turn and able to keep that margin the line despite having a bit of a wonder up the straight. Outcome +7.00 Units.

IPSWICH R6 #2 Red Prince @ $4.40 (1.48 UNITS WIN). Knocking the door down for a win with three last seconds. Smart money this AM as well.

Result: 3rd at SP $3.40. Rated $3.90. Settled in third on the rails, a length or so off the leader. Made our move just after the home turn but winner, Fomo, who sat outside us during the race made its move at the 600m and put up a break that we couldn’t make up despite tiring late. Outcome -1.48 Units.

BENDIGO R8 #4 Indian Thunder @ $7.00 (0.77 UNITS WIN). Weir trained, blinkers back on and hopefully well placed here at $7.

Result: Unplaced at SP $15.00. Rated $15.00. Steady drifter in the market. Settled slightly worse than midfield. One of the widest on the turn and bumped horses and then had to check off heels and finished out the back. Outcome -0.77 Units.

IPSWICH R8 #3 The Real Boss @ $7 (0.77 UNITS WIN). Speedy front runner who showed them how its done last start with strong lead win. We identified this at $14 last night but with scratchings and some smart money, has come in - but still a fair price IMO.

Result: 2nd at SP $6.50. Rated $6.50. Settled as the leader, after doing a bit of early work. Held the lead until the 100m mark when the horse who settled 2nd and favourite, Unlikely Story, overtook us despite The Real Boss who ran them along but just couldn’t hold on. Outcome -0.77 Units.

Unfortunately due to the price plunge on Ourlordofwar (opened at $12, advertised $3.90, Best Tote and Betfair $2.40 / $2.44) there was a small loss of 0.08 Units with return of 4.15 Units. Of course for Best Tote and Betfair players, if your outlay was more than 1.73 Units on this selection to meet the 5 unit profit, then hopefully you would have finished in front.

Hopefully majority of people took the fixed price on Ourlordofwar given the plunge in prices and finished in front for the day on both the SSSS and Rocktober selections. While I’m not advocating or promoting any betting company, there is at least one out there that does guarantee the best of Fixed Price and Starting Price (where available). I wish there was more than one but none have come to the party that I’m aware of.

That reduces our stake and makes it even better value. You can also get $4.40 the place which looks attractive, although we'll go win only officially. Should be up on the lead and lets see how this plays out.

Result: Unplaced at SP $41.00. Rated $8.36. Massive overlay and value selection. From barrier 1, started well and led them out. Was joined by the pack at the top of the straight and was wayward causing a little havoc for those behind him. Winners came from the middle of the track. Outcome -0.28 Units.

🏆🏆🏆HAMILTON R5 #1 Kent Street @ $5.50 (1.12 UNITS WIN). Last start mdn win after changing to the inform Chow stable. Up in grade but it was a good gutsy win. Willing to take the overs on offer.

Result: 1st at SP $4.40, Best Tote $4.70, Betfair $4.70. Rated $3.10, nice value winner. Settled slightly worse than midfield. Was widest on the turn and carrying 60KG was just too strong for them today and grinded out a good win. Outcome +6.50 Units.

QUEANBEYAN R5 #5 Smart Remark @ $5.50 (1.12 UNIT WIN). Settled back last on the fence and motored home for 3rd. The extra metres here may see him get the win and at a nice price also. We also like the fact that all bookies have kept him "safe" this AM. Look a solid chance to us.

Result: 2nd at SP $5.00. Rated $5.35. Settled in 5th, just behind the leaders which was pack of four. We went wide on the turn, while the winner, The Blues Brother, who also sat behind the speed had a rails run. Good run to the line by Smart Remark and given it went down by a head, that softer run proved the difference. Outcome -1.12 Units.

Quiet Monday with three selections, two being official plays but unfortunately no returns for a Monday.

It’s a pretty quiet day as far as selections go and there’s no apparent great value this AM. However, there are a couple of Rocktobers for today: (maybe a double R4 E/W and R5?)

Hopefully you took the advice on Rocktober selection and took the exotic bet on Race 7 which returned a profit of 3.14 Units. If you didn’t, all good as you still returned a profit on Rocktober selections.

Unfortunately the additional selections from Mr Pretium, while providing value and overlay opportunities did not provide any returns. Based on official prices and 5 Unit Profit on each race, this would have meant a loss of 4.47 Units.

Lesson: Our aim is to find value and overlays (greater prices) than the SP (Starting Price). If you continue to find those runners, then they will win in due course and that is the only way to be successful long-term.

Result: 2nd at SP $2.60. Settled in 2nd. Did hit the lead very briefly in the straight before Choisborder joined in and got into a head to head battle but just headed out for 2nd. Outcome -1.43 Units.

Ararat Race 7 No.12 Onehundred Percent @ $12 - watch.

Result: Non Qualifier - Unplaced at SP $21.00.

NB: The price of these selections makes staking a little tricky with an 85% market gauge across the three of them, and 76% across the top 2 - leaving little scope for profit. Maybe the better way to play this is via RewardBet with an outlay like this? That’s my recommendation now, but does depend on market before the race somewhat.

Rocktober: Outlay 7.07 Units. Return 12.78 Units. Profit of 5.71 Units. Best Tote players return / profit was 14.48 Units / 7.40 Units and Betfair 17.42 Units / 10.35 Units. For the week, we recorded a profit of 1.49 Units and the month of November a loss of 6.30 Units.

We finished off the biggest week on the Australian racing calendar with a profitable day. This was thanks to the lessons learnt previously, especially on Thursday, and took into account the inflated SP due to the larger field size and the jockey employed. As a result both Kenedna and Brave Smash were declared official Rocktober plays despite the starting price being greater than $8.00. Speaking of Kenedna, great ride by little Johnny Allen to get that home. If you haven’t seen the replay, including jockey cam (sorry couldn’t find a link to this one), have a look, great ride IMO. Hopefully members also took into account the market and jockey booking and backed Top Prospect who saluted. This firmed from $18 to SP $11 and Craig Williams rode it though wasn’t an official Rocktober play.

⛪Morphettville R2 #1 Alaris @$4.0 1.67 UNITS Win.   Came home strongly from back of field in eye catching run over 1200m last Tuesday. Blinkers go on here and extra distance of 1250m looks ideal on quick back-up for astute McEvoy yard with R Clark again on board

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.00. Settled in the latter half of the field on a strong tempo earlier before leaders settled their initial positions. Never a winning hope, never ran on from the back though nor did anyone else. Result -1.67 Units.

🏆🏆🏆FLEMINGTON R4 #4 Dreamforce @ $7  (0.77 UNITS WIN). He had a huge run last start and will be fit 3rd up here. Has won 3rd up and more than willing to have him today at big overs to our ratings. Mr P also likes #10, so he suggests a RewardBet for 0.20 UNITS on 3, 4 & 10 Platinum or Ex/TT Custom which will return between $200 and $450 estimate.

Result: 1st at SP $7.00, Best Tote $7.00, Betfair $8.64. Rated $3.65. Big overlay Settled on speed on a decent tempo. Kept on kicking on in the straight and staved off all challenges especially in the final stages to cling on to victory. No luck with the exotic numbers apart from the winner. Outcome +5.39 Units.

⛪Morphettville R4 #4 France's Boy @ $5.50 1.12 UNITS Win . Seems well placed for first up win and has a win previously first up. Track report suggests he is ready to run well and R Clark comes off last start winner, He Is Golden, to ride. Also Fav has nil wins from 4 goes first up. Early market support also points to a win here.

Result: 4th at SP $4.80. Rated $7.97. Settled towards the tail of the field. Stayed on the inside and did run on from the back well and hit the line nicely but too far back to be a winning hope. Outcome -1.12 Units.

ROSEHILL R6 #12 Nicochet @ $11  (0.50 UNITS WIN). Taking on Fav here. Has won 4th up previous. First try at the distance but been a little smart money this AM and we prefer the value here.

Result: 2nd at SP $10.00. Rated $12.55. Settled midfield. Leader and eventual winner, Sky Boy (SP $1.90), kicked early in the straight and Nicochet kept on coming down the straight trying to run it down though possibly peaked on its run late as Sky Boy was able to hold on. Good run. Outcome -0.50 Units.

SUNSHINE COAST R5 #5 Voulait @ $15.00  (0.36 UNITS WIN). Should be right up there today with 3 wins at this track & distance and a double overlay bet for the win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $17.00 Rated at $9.96. Nice overlay. Settled in a battle for fourth and was no closer than four wide the entire trip. Did tire late but considering its tough run was entitled to though wasn’t disgraced in finishing fifth about two lengths off the winner. Outcome -0.36 Units.

SUNSHINE COAST R6 #6 Bel Burgess @ $5.50   (1.12 UNITS WIN). Likes to settle forward and gets the chance here for a nice run out of the 2. Down in grade and a great chance at overs.

Result: 4th at SP $8.50. Rated $3.26. Nice overlay thanks to the steady drift in the market. Settled in third, on the rails behind the leader. Looked good on the turn, though had little room. Tried to squeeze up on the rails and took a narrow lead about the 300m mark. Though got squeezed a little on its run and the backmarkers got to us in the last 100m. Outcome -1.12 Units.

FLEMINGTON R8 #9 Extra Brut @ $9.50  (0.59 UNITS WIN). One of the fittest horses right now and I see no reason to drop-off at this attractive price ...  with a drop in the weights and CW steering.

Result: 3rd at SP $4.60. Rated $7.98. Good market support through out the day. Settled at the tail. Followed Blair House and had to go off heels at the 300m mark which lost it about a length and momentum which probably cost it the race. Good run though. Outcome -0.59 Units.

Quiet day on the selections today with only three official plays though we returned a profit so no complaints there. As a bonus, Mr Pretium tips were provided today and while playing all the selections would have given a small loss betting to win 5 units, (on Official Prices, Outlay 7.77 Units, Return 5.36 Units, Loss 2.42 Units), Mr P says that with the majority of his selections at high prices, you may want to flat-stake them to maximise those longer priced winners. These selections long term provided very good value so I would recommend keeping an eye out for learning the skills. I know I am!!!!!

Today felt like an almost equals zero day. This was despite our official only winner for the day, a SSSS selection, saluting at official price of $19.00 and backed in to Tote of $14.90 and Betfair $17.15. Three of our exotic bets missed out by one place and a non qualifier Rocktober selection saluting at SP $41.00. Those near misses hurt, especially on a losing day.

Lesson: We’ve had two non-official Rocktobers win at big prices over the carnival (with a few big placings). It is worth remembering that the $8.50 or less SP cut-off is based on our analysis to maximise the POT … doesn’t mean they can’t win. Also it is especially important to look, if you have the time, as the reason for the drift. Did the Rocktober drift not because of lack of market support, but because of too much support for another runner? That’s not a bad thing especially if the market ultimately is wrong. The other lesson here is that in larger fields, the SP can be inflated due to the value in the market … and finally, look at the jockey .. Top jockey, Craig Williams was engaged by Weir on Thermal Current. Obviously, CW who has a jockey manager dedicated to finding the best rides (and he’s also a RB user!) would not have jumped on if he didn’t think it had a good chance. FLEMINGTON R5 - Open race and we may have some Rocktobers running for us. However, we have taken a speculative ALL Trifecta RB with the numbers: 5, 7, 9, 12, 13 for 0.30 UNIT which has an estimated return of about $330.

After the turn, took the lead and kept finding and held off all challengers to win by about a length. Good thing it was passed fit. Outcome +5.32 Units.

PAKENHAM R5 #2 Dry Biscuit @ $7.00 @ $7.00  (0.84 UNITS WIN). He’s been going too well not to take him at this rated price. Been very consistent of late and worth a dabble for the win.

HAWKESBURY R6 #7 Beware @ $5  (1.25 UNITS WIN). I tipped this fella last start and it was a really good run for 4th 1.8L 4th. I’m willing to tip him again as he has shown some promise and drops a grade here today.

KYNETON R5 #1 Annunciate @ $16.00  (0.34 UNITS WIN). Won very well by 4L 2 starts ago and has the form to win again today at a very nice overs price.

KYNETON R8 #4 Our Big Mike @ $7.50  (0.77 UNITS WIN). I have seen this bloke race and i reckon he will run run a good race if he brings his NZ form and quite willing to take the overs offered. We also like the Rocktober, #6 Snitzepeg plus Mr Pretium likes #3 and #2. You know what that means? We are also suggesting an RB of 2,3,4 and 6 for 0.50 UNIT in an EX/TT Custom Level. This has an estimated return (for $50) of $200-$400.

RANDWICK R5 #4 Thy Kingdom Come @ $8.50  (0.67 UNITS WIN). He should have won last start and won well but the jockey didn’t do as he was told. With the power and the glory of SW this time we hope for better.

Result: 4th at SP $4.80. Rated $12.46. From the wide draw, went forward on a decent tempo and settled outside the leader, one off the rails. Just unable to keep up the strong tempo and finish the last 200m strongly. Outcome -0.67 Units.

MUSWELLBROOK R3 #1 General Artie @ $10.00  (0.56 UNITS WIN). SU here today and drops a grade. Can fly home with a burst and thats what im hoping for here at nice overs.

Result: 2nd at SP $13.00. Rated $8.42. Settled in second, on the rails just behind the leader. The leader was able to slip a couple length lead on the turn and was just able to hold on for the victory despite General Artie hitting the line strongly. Outcome -0.56 Units.

🏆🏆🏆DOOMBEN R5 #7 Few Too Many @ $5.00  (1.25 UNITS WIN). Drawn to do no work here and and has the pace to give this a shake at some nice overs to our rated price.

Last start led over 1500m this grade on 26/10 and was strong to the line indicates ready for this distance from a good draw, Happy to take the "overs" on offer.

Result: 1st at SP $5.50, Best Tote $4.80, Betfair $7.60. From the turn came into the race nicely and knuckled down to the task, wearing down the leaders for a good tough win. Outcome +7.00 Units.

Well the first day of the Flemington Spring Carnival is over which saw our winning sequence unfortunately came to an end,with a small profit on Rocktober though a loss on SSSS. Hopefully you took advantage of the bonus bet / cash back on the Flemington races and your results a little better than the official ones. Even though we had a non qualifier winner on Rocktober, if you backed all the non official Rocktober selections today, you would have recorded a loss on the non official plays based on official prices (Outlay 5.96 Units, Return 5.56 Units, Loss of 0.40 Units).

FLEMINGTON R1 #4 Quarterjack @ $12 (0.50 UNIT WIN). A Mr Pretium selection to start Derby day, our original selection being scratching this AM. Some good support and is the right value price for Derby day with all the bonus offers around.

Result: Unplaced at SP $10.00. Rated at $13.04. Good late market support. Settled one off the rails outside the leader. Dropped out from the straight when pressure went on. Outcome -0.50 Units.

FLEMINGTON R3 #8 Winter Bride @ $8.50  (0.67 UNITS WIN). May have jumped up a grade but loves the 1200 and B Avdulla in the saddle and in great form also. Rated overs for a win today.

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.00. Rated $6.87. Lead early in the straight six race. Pressure came on, Winter Bride dropped out and finished towards the back. Outcome -0.67 Units.

FLEMINGTON R4 #6 Brimham Rocks @ $6  (1 UNIT WIN). Import who just has to be his turn today. Been chasing some class horse flesh and just getting nutted and at a nice overs for a win today. Second bet, #7 Gallic Chieftan @ $17 (0.32 UNIT WIN). One that Mr Pretium has spotted, and is great value here also on our ratings.

Result: Brimham Rocks - 2nd at SP $4.20. Rated at $4.44. Settled midfield and followed the winner, Prince Of Arron everywhere. Arron kicked at the 300m got a couple length lead on us which we couldn’t run down despite having every chance. Second bet Gallic Chieftain finished 4th at SP $16.00, Rated $9.95, despite finishing well, was no match for the winner, never a winning chance. Outcome -1.32 Units.

ROSEHILL R4 #7 Naval Warfare @ $4.80  (1.32 UNITS WIN). Seven day back up and carrying a lot less weight. Can handle this lot IMO and is due for win.

Result: 3rd at SP $5.00. Rated at $6.12. Settled at the tail in the small field. Stayed towards the inside, uninterrupted run and was gunning home, just couldn’t pick up the leader who wasn’t putting in the short strides that we would have liked to see. Outcome -1.32 Units.

FLEMINGTON R5 #8 Diplomatico @ $9  (0.63 UNITS WIN). Up & comer this fella with a touch of class about him IMO and a touch of class in the saddle. Looks the goods here today. Second Bet: #4 Lean Mean Machine @ $9.50 (0.59 UNIT WIN). Some good gear changes, Bowman and some Waller smart money. Tick, tick, tick.

Result: Diplomatico - Unplaced at SP $9.50. Rated at $9.93. Settled towards the back and never ran on from the back. Post race, jockey commented on how green it raced down the straight in its first attempt. Lean Mean Machine - 3rd at SP $10.00, Rated $7.07. Settled in third, laid in but kept running through the line to finish in a photo for 3rd. Outcome -1.22 Units.

MORPHETTVILLE R3 #7 Gold Seal @ $9.00  (0.63 UNITS WIN). Placed 2 out 3 and drops in weight and is very ready for a win IMO.

Result: Unplaced at $12.00. Rated $11.91. Late drift. Settled in third on the rails, couple of lengths from the leaders. Went up three deep on the turn but found nothing and dropped out. Outcome -0.63 Units.

⛪ MORPHETTVILLE R5 #2 Von Costa Glass @ $5.00  (1.25 UNITS WIN). Had the measure of Modulate last time when came from last early in a big field of 13 and outstayed Modulate in straight over 1600m. Modulate had run of the race as well and cannot see why it is Fav here. R Clark can sit off the pace and again time her run esp with  the small field of 8 here.

Result: Unplaced at SP $4.80. Rated $8.94. Settled last with strong tempo. Went wide from the turn, never ran on and finished towards the back. Outcome -1.25 Units.

⛪ MORPHETTVILLE R7 #2 Irish Mint @ $6.50  (0.90 UNITS WIN). Was a strong winner in higher grade than rivals here last start when able to race away in straight after sitting outside leader. Drawn well here to enjoy run of the race and with R Clark going on top here is set to complete a double.

Result: Unplaced at $13.00, Rated at $10.01. Decent drift in the market. Settled midfield one off the rails. Tried to make its move just after the turn, however gaps didn’t appear as jockey would have liked and when they did, it was too late, race was over. Outcome -0.90 Units.

The hard work and new techniques being implemented by the team are showing its true worth, with the SSSS selections having two winners and another profit today. Unfortunately one of the Rocktober selections drifted past the SP of $8.00 to make it a non qualifier and duly saluted while another one dead heated where it should have won comfortably which hurt our bottom line. Hopefully though you took advantage of Bonus Bets / Money back specials and your results are slightly better than the official ones.

Result: Unplaced at SP $9.50. Rated $8.24. Settled at the back. Was widest on the turn and finished well from the 200m mark though not a winning chance in the run / straight. Outcome -0.77 Units.

MOREE R5 #7 Olivia ‘n’ Me @ $26.00  (0.20 UNITS WIN). Has won 2nd up in an earlier prep and the race after that also. Was out of luck last run and has had a break and right up to this with some value for a win bet. Second Bet: #11 Bold Crossing @ $17 (0.32 UNIT WIN) - Some interesting support this morning, may drift before post time?

Result: Unplaced at SP $21.00. Rated at $11.41. Settled in second, outside the leader. Under pressure from the turn, had nothing to give and dropped back through the field. Second bet was unplaced at SP $41.00. Outcome -0.52 Units.

WAGGA R5 #1 Ruthless Agent @ $7  (0.84 UNIT WIN). Made no impact in the heavy going last start but the run before that he hit the line hard after being slow away, and an overlay on our rated price. Suggested RB Saver: #9, #4, #1 - in an Ex/TT custom level for (0.30 UNIT).

Result: 3rd at SP $8.50. Rated at $6.34. Settled towards the tail of the field. Slowly improved its position prior to the turn and by the 200m mark was just behind the leaders and a winning hope, just couldn’t finish off the way we would have liked. Saver bet had 2nd and 3rd, though not the winner at SP $19.00. Outcome -1.14 Units.

MOREE R6 #11 Dinisty @ $7.50  (0.77 UNITS WIN). Given a couple of lung strengtheners to get her ready for this IMO. If they send her to the front they will have to catch her at big overlay to our rated price.

Result: 3rd at SP $9.50. Rated $4.03. Nice overlay. Settled at the tail of the field. While it hit the line and finished off well, long gap of about seven lengths between it and the leading two on the line, never a winning hope. Outcome -0.77 Units.

🏆MOREE R7 #3 Mr Opurrtunist @ $14.00  (0.39 UNIT WIN). Winning form is good form and they have been keeping this fella out of my sight but a little birdy has been in my ear. Been smart money this AM.  Second Bet: #1 Baroque Girl @ $6 (0.40 UNIT WIN)

Result: 3rd at SP $17.00. Rated at $14.31. Settled midfield and dropped back during the run in the compacted field. As a result of dropping back had it come the widest and really finished well to just miss second in a photo. Second bet was 1st at SP $5.50, Best Tote $5.40, Betfair $5.91. Rated at $9.31. Joined the lead and at the turn and proved too strong in the last 200m or so. Outcome +2.40 Units.

🏆🏆🏆KILMORE R8 #1 Bold Missile @ $13 (0.42 UNIT WIN). One from Mr Pretium who has noticed some solid value support this AM with the right money.

Result: 1st at SP $7.50, Best Tote $8.50, Betfair $10.62. Rated $14.29. Settled in fourth just behind the leaders on the rails. Run appeared just after the turn, took it and took over the lead from about the 200m and ended up winning by about a length. Outcome +5.46 Units.

Result: 4th at SP $7.50. On the turn took the rails and for a stride or two looked a winning hope just couldn’t finish off. Outcome -0.84 Units.

Moonee Valley Race 2 No.6 Our Chiquilla @ $5 (1.25 UNIT WIN)

Result: 2nd at SP $4.80. Got shuffled back mid race though ran on well in the straight and finished well on the outside though winner won comfortably Outcome -1.25 Units.

🏆Moonee Valley Race 3 No.2 Kaplumpich @ $2.3 (2.5 UNIT WIN)

Result: Dead Heat 1st at SP $1.08. Best Tote $1.05, Betfair $1.21. Since Dead Heat for first winning dividends halved. Moved up on the straight and should have won comfortably, got a little lost / looked around when hit the front though. Darren Weir suggested blinkers will be applied next start. Also thought there was gap in our favour, though judges decided otherwise. Outcome +2.88 Units.

Moonee Valley Race 4 No.7 Truly High @ $3 (2.5 UNITS WIN)

Result: 3rd at SP $2.90. Coming from the back, hooked out from just before the turn and was solid from the back. Leader just too strong. Outcome -2.50 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $5.00. Settled towards the front, though got headed at turn and couldn’t finish off. Outcome -0.77 Units.

Result: 2nd at SP $2.05. After early support, had a late drift. Winner at SP $11.00 – which was a 5 Point Special – and lead all the way, Friar Fox though ran on well from the back, leader just had too much of a start. Outcome -2.50 Units.

Second selection is #4 Party Host @ $6.00 (0.75 UNIT WIN). Kept on chasing them in good fashion to just miss out last start. Keep safe.

Result: 1st at SP $4.20, Best Tote $4.20, Betfair $4.20. Rated at $3.488. Settled in the lead on the rails and set a steady pace. On the turn put the foot down, was unable to put a good gap on the 2nd placed horse but kept on finding, holding its advantage and went on to win. Outcome +5.00 Units.

SAPPHIRE COAST R3 #6 Grasp @ $7.00  (0.84 UNITS WIN). Hit the lead on the bend to come away for a nice win last start and looks like a suitable field to try that again at an overs win bet.

Result: 4th at SP $10.00. Rated at $4.86. Nice Overlay. In the small from the wide gate, settled at the back. Even though it was creeping forward from the turn, unable to sufficient ground on the leaders and short price favourite. Outcome -0.84 Units.

Result: 3rd at SP $3.60. Was on the move before the turn as the winner took control and put a nice gap on the field. Found the line well though no match for the winner. Outcome -2.59 Units.

Result: 3rd at SP $3.30. Kicked on the turn had a couple of lengths lead, though couldn’t finish off and was putting in the short strides with about 100m to go and done just before the line. Outcome -1.57 Units.

Result: 2nd at SP $7.00. Made ground before the turn though leader kicked and put up a winning margin which Raffine, try as it might couldn’t chase down. Outcome -1.00 Unit.

Geelong Race 7 No.6 Zuers @ $7 (0.84 UNIT WIN) - watch price

Result: 4th at SP $4.40. Kept to the rails after settling fourth and battled away to the line to finish 4th. Outcome -0.84 Units.
