Patience was required today for our sole winner via King Kabuto in Morphetville Race 8 who lead / had a share of the lead for the whole race.

Our weekly / monthly results for SSSS remain positive with a Strike Rate of around 20 odd percent and very nice Profit on Turnover as well. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for Rocktober with our selections this month not running up to expectations.

ROSEHILL R6 #4 Bring It Home Pop @ $11.00 (0.50 UNITS WIN). Has been sweating on a heavy track IMO. 1 win in the heavy and 1 win at this distance. Looks a good bet today.

Result: 4th at SP $10.00. Rated $12.90. Jumped well and went forward to lead by about a length on the rails. By the home turn had company and in a tight finish for third to about sixth, Bring It Home Pop finished in fourth. Outcome -0.50 Units.

GUNDAGAI R5 #1 Gas Man @ $7.50 (0.77 UNITS WIN). Drops a peg and has won in a better grade than this and with the claim looks like a nice overs win bet.

Result: 4th at SP $6.50. Rated $6.30. After doing a bit of work and being wide early, after few hundred meters eventually sat one off the rails in a share of the lead. Kept on in the straight and lost the lead with about 200m to go and finished a length away in fourth. Outcome -0.77 Units.

NEWCASTLE Race 3 No. 10 Travanti

Result: Unplaced at SP $5.00. Coming from towards the tail of the field, took a while to get going in the straight but finished respectably for fifth. Outcome -1.25 Units.

CAULFIELD Race 7 No. 7 One More Try

Result: 2nd at SP $2.30. Settled in second outside the leader and eventual winner. The winner kicked on the turn and from then on One More Try was no match for the winner but held second comfortably. Outcome -1.50 Units.

CALOUNDRA Race 6 No. 2 Junipal

Result: 2nd at SP $3.60. Settled in fifth but on the turn was caught in traffic and while the winner kicked clear, Junipal was just getting clear and finished well to get second. Maybe with a bit more luck, the result could have been different. Outcome -1.50 Units.

CALOUNDRA Race 7 No. 6 Sopressa

Result: 2nd at SP $11.00. Lead for 2300m of the 2400m race though found one better and just could not hold off all the challengers despite a very good run. Outcome -0.50 Units.

🏆🏆🏆MORPHETTVILLE P Race 8 No. 9 King Kabuto

Result: 1st at SP $3.70, Best Tote $4.00, Betfair $3.80. Having a share of the lead holding the rails, got a margin at the 300m and ran away to win by about a length on the line. Outcome +5.55 Units.

BELMONT R1 #9 Wicklow Princess @ $10.00 (0.56 UNITS WIN). A couple of recent winning trials and a last start 3rd suggests a win is imminent.

TAMWORTH R5 #5 Far North @ $11.00 (0.50 UNITS WIN). Looking good getting back up to the mile here and is at nice overs for the win.

Result: 2nd at SP $7.00. Rated $5.00. Nice overlay opportunity. From the wide gate, kept back though took its to settle, racing with its mouth open and bucking its head. Around the turn was the widest runner and kept on running on, though just couldn’t muster enough speed to chase down the winner who also came from towards the rear of the field. Outcome -0.50 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $10.00. Always towards the rear of the field and never challenged in the finish. Outcome -0.56 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $5.00. Coming from midfield presented on the turn but was well beaten by the winner while Tormino finished in around fifth. Outcome -1.25 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $6.50. Settled a little better than midfield and kept to the rails and finished midfield never really challenging in the straight. Outcome -0.91 Units.

Result: 3rd at SP $5.50. Settled near the front, loomed at around the 200m but a couple of the back markers had the momentum while Champagne Friday managed to hold third in a photo. Outcome -1.11 Units.

Result: 1st at SP $6.00, Best Tote $6.80, Betfair $8.57. Rated $3.50. Nice overlay and value. Settled three wide with cover towards the tail of the field. Prior to the turn went forward and went to the outside barrier which proved to be the winning move as it went on to win by a length. Outcome +5.13 Units (after deductions).

Result: Unplaced at SP $11.00. Rated $11.70. Was in a four way share of the lead, one off the rails off a decent speed. Unfortunately Connoisseur couldn’t maintain the pace and dropped with about 200m to go to finish midfield. Outcome -0.34 Units.

🏆🏆🏆FLEMINGTON R7 #1 Gytrash @ $5.00 (1.25 UNITS WIN). Impressive win last start and should be in the mix again with Willow in the saddle. Overs for the win.

Result: 1st at SP $3.50, Best Tote $3.60, Betfair $3.64. Rated $5.10. Settled just off the pace in about fourth spot. Took the lead at the 400m mark and from there really dominated the race to win by a couple of lengths. Outcome +6.25 Units.

GOLD COAST R7 #2 Wind In The Willow @ $6.50 (0.91 UNITS WIN). Has won SU and drops in class for this. Should give a show and is overs for the win.

Result: Unplaced at SP $6.50. Rated $2.80. Nice overlay. Settled in about fifth, a length or so behind the leader but was no closer than three wide the trip. When pressure applied, Wind In The Willow found little and finished in the last part of the field. Outcome -0.91 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $8.50. Travelled midfield but was too far back too make an impression on the winners. Outcome -0.67 Units.

MORPHETTVILLE Race 2 No. 2 Euroman

Result: Unplaced at SP $2.15. Had a tumble mid race after a jump where the jockey showed great horseman ship to stay on however horse was eased out very soon after that. Outcome -1.50 Units.

MORPHETTVILLE Race 2 No. 5 Andrea Mantegna

Result: 2nd at SP $5.00. Settled midfield though made its move forward with about 800m to go. At the turn was behind the leader and took the lead soon after, but leader kicked back and in a close battle all the way up the straight, Andrea Mantegna finished on the wrong side of the ledger. Outcome -1.25 Units.

Result: 1st at SP $1.45, Best Tote $1.60, Betfair $1.49. Lead from start to finish, kicked at the 300m and from then on was in no danger of losing. Outcome +2.18 Units.

FLEMINGTON Race 4 No. 6 Last Week

Result: 3rd at SP $3.40. Settled in second, just behind the leader. Took the lead on the turn but was no match for the winners in the end despite having its chances. Outcome -1.50 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $31.00. Set a decent tempo up front and lead by many lengths from the main field, but just prior to the turn, its lead was being cut into and strides shortened up and finished towards the tail of field. Outcome -0.17 Units.

Result: Unplaced at SP $3.80. Settled midfield but never ran on in the straight and finished midfield. Outcome -1.50 Units.

Result: 3rd at SP $6.00. Settled midfield though lost position slightly mid race when new leader occurred. Hard ridden from the top of the straight with many lengths to make up and finished well for third. Outcome -1.00 Unit.

Result: 2nd at SP $4.00. Rated $2.60. Settled on the rails in a share of fourth, a couple of pairs back from the leader. On the home turn, moved up four wide to stake its claim and in a battle to the line, Opposite just couldn’t put its head in front and take the race. Outcome -1.00 Unit.

Result: 1st at SP $4.20, Best Tote $4.00, Betfair $4.16. Rated $3.70. Settled in third, three way outside the leader with no cover. Looked promising on the turn and got to the middle of the track and took over to score a comfortable win. Impressive win especially being three wide the trip. Outcome +5.14 Units after deductions.

Just the two selections today which both were hurdle races. Euroman saluted after sitting off the speed and proving too strong in the straight to ensure we finished on the right side of the wager.
